Post any pics you have so if anyone comes across any parts being sold, especially if there are any custom parts.
Common sense in not very common.

I still cant believe this happened, those are the pictures I have. The bike was in great condition, I had did a valve adjustment and repainted the exhaust all with everyone help in this forum, thanks, I had 17,000 on the odometer. What a fun time I had with it. I will post all that I hear from AAA, I hope this doesnt happen to anyone else here but if it does then maybe my experiece will help. OK take care.

There are far more valuable bikes to steal than a 02 GS.  Probably stolen for the parts, someone needed a new engine or perhaps forks or bodywork to repair a wrecked bike.  Spoted your bike and followed you home to see where it lived.
407,400 miles in 30 years for 13,580 miles/year average.  Started riding 7/21/84 and hung up helmet 8/31/14.

that makes me feel worse that it could be a fellow GS'er.

Sorry  that someone  decided to help themselves to your GS. That sucks, I had over $10,000 in stereo, wheels and performance parts stolen while i was in college. The thieves left my car on the ground on one side and a stolen jack on the other, I woke up in the morning with the lights flashing, but no siren sounding cause they cut the wires. I actually tracked them down through friends and others in the car community that sympathized with me, by the time i had proof and their address for the cops to investigate, he was arrested on an armed robbery charge and sent away for a while :icon_mrgreen:.

Karma is a Buddha Loves You though, and I foresee that the thief will be suffering a life of pain and distress. They will get what they deserve and hopefully a lot more. Maybe the thief will get hit by a mack truck and be severely maimed to the point of death with loss of limbs (legs & arms) only to recover to a un-repayable debt of medical bills , a hindered lifestyle , and the thought that if never stole the GS ( or anything else for that matter) he might have continued with a normal life as a functioning member of society.

:2guns: DEATH TO THIEVES  or just throw them to the victims and let us have our way with them.

I'll keep a look out in the SoCal area and ads posted. :police:
Free '97 GS500 passed down from older brother. Installed Yoshimura slip-on muffler, K&N drop-in, Katana shock, Metzler Z6 tires, more to come.

I was watching "jacked" last night on A&E and it made my blood boil. Of all the people they caught not one was charged with Grand Theft. They all got a misdemeanor charge of possesion of stolen property. All were usually released with a slap on the wrist within four hours and a court date. So how many more are they gonna go jack. On dude had been arrested 44 times WTF!

They cops joked around with the criminals and all buddy buddy with them. I wanted to puke!

Seems that this kind of bs has become the accepted norm in our society - people just shrug and say 'well your insurance will cover it' - yeah right.

Not a stretch for the theives to go ahead and break into your house as long as they have access to the garage.

I'm amazed at the number of mc thefts in some parts of the usa.  If I lived there -> multiple chain and cables, with multiple locks, concrete anchor bolts, take the wheels off and store separately, hidden video, large weimeraner/pit bull kind of dog, etc.  I'd at least make them work for it.

One reason i'll never buy parts off fleabay.

I am amazed by how many people have shared their experiences with me, last night I was telling one of my teachers what happened and he said he had a BMW stolen back in '98.  I am consider some type of Lojack system on my next motorcycle, I believe that there are ways to protect our bikes but, people will always find away around them, so the next best thing is to take away their incentive to steal by harsher penalties, my teacher is also Chinese and he said that people usually dont steal twice in China. So, I am all for prosecuting these people and bringing back chain gangs, not just building more jails to house them, but making them do hard labor. Our legal system is way too leinient, as for now it is self defense classes and a louisville slugger in the truck. I am hyper aware of potential for crime now, but I have now been a victim once and that is all it has taken. I am a pretty peaceful guy, but I am a new attitude now. Now that I dont have my GS I want you all to know that it is a wonderful bike and take care of yours.  :thumb:

I feel for your loss, and hope that it will be recovered soon, in good shape, and the thieves in jail.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Lojack is sweet, a guy i met had one put on at the stealership when he got his 08 gsxr600. Cost $700 dollars and his bike got stolen the next week or so IIRC. The cops had the bike in 30 minuets cause it was like 30 miles in a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina. They also found 2 zx7's and 2 other gixers at this place just choppin' em up. 1 thing about lojack, You have to call the cops to activate it when you notice the bike is gone and im not sure but you might have to pay for the call to get it or like a monthly service fee, not sure though.

I have also heard of a tracking device that You install and then pay a monthly fee . You can find out where your bike or cage is at any time by looking it up online and it gives you a map like mapquest with a dot for the tracked vehicle. Oh yeah, that means you can call the cops for help or call the posse. I guess that depends on how big your balls are.

The main purpose being, get your ride back as quick as possible with as little damage as possible, Right? Just everyone please be safe, and just think it out.

That sounds cool, but my bike only cost $1000. It seems silly for me to spend $700 to protect it...

Same situation here  :)
Wish there was a cheaper alternative... Disc locks abviously don't work...
