hi all,

i have bought a givi top box and fitted the givi light system to it

thats where my problems start.

my questions are firstly, should the lights on the box be on and then when i pull the brake the lights go out, or should it be out and then when i pull the broake the lights come on.

Secondly, i have not connected it all yet just touched the wires together,

the givi light system has two wires 1 blue 1 black, my suzuki gs500 k7 has two bulbs in the rear unit and has a brown wire, a black and white wire, and an earth wire going into each part of the rear light.

can anyone tell me how the light system should illuminate and how to wire up this system. The instructions are crap.

any help appreciated, but please make it for the layman as I have no idea how electrics work.....

ideally i want the lights to be off until i press either the front or rear brake

cheers
mick

Givi calls the light kits stop lights so that would be their intention and also how I would want them to work.  They would have 3 wires if they were for both running and stop lights.

Here's a wiring diagram for 04 GS-F models and it shows same color wires as my 90-02 diagram for the tail/stop lights, three wires:

Br = brown which goes to the ignition switch and would be the tail light.

W/B = white with black tracer which goes to the stop light switches.

B/W = black with white tracer that goes to the battery negative pole.

You would want to connect the 2 Givi wires to the W/B and B/W wires.  Shouldn't matter which one went to which but black to B/W should work OK.
