It's all relative to your ability. My first street bike was a '86 ZX1000R Ninja. But then I had been riding dirt bike for 10 years prior.

IMO, the gs500 is a better beginner bike but the b4 is a reasonably good first bike too.

thanks everyone, i think i'm gonna get the bandit.  Its the cheaper then the GS500s so far.  And I think I can iprovise on parts with help from this site and the internet.

www.maximum-suzuki.com is a very active bandit forum with a load of local riders (to you and me). you should check them out.

also banditalley.com has a forum dedicated to the bandit 400 but doesnt get much traffic. you could sheck out the forum and just browse the old posts to get an idea what the b4 is about.

This forum directed me to those sites, and i have been looking. However my questions were all answered on this forum faster and better.  I'm still new so I just need advice on the purchase and safety issues of the bike.  I will use those sites later when I start customizing and adjusting the bike.  Hopefully I can meet all you So-CAL riders on my bandit or GS whenever I get it.  I plan to do it soon.  I have about 5 decent leads.  A friend of mine who is a mechanic may help me when I pick up the bike.  I love this forum, you guys are friendly, helpful and your own personal websites are good too.
