:dunno_black: I can't find a #3 washer nor can I figure out if they're metric or standard. Everywhere i look some idiot keeps saying, "Go to Lowes, they will know what you want" No they don't. So if someone can tell me it it's a #3 standard or metric i'd appreciate it. I found M3 washers at ace but need to know if I need metric.

Metric is always your best bet with a japanese bike.. those m3 washers should work. Tiny ones.

I'm sorry! I forgot to mention the washers are for the needles in the carb. So now that you know the full story...Same answer?

Did you ever get rid of the pause go problem you had after you added washers? If I remember correctly you had K/N drop-in's and the rest was stock.

M3 is not #3. #3 is what fits on a #3 screw whatever the hell that is. ACE has been useless.

Order a box from mcmaster-carr.com PN: 90295A030 and then when you get them, sell them to anyone that needs them for 0.10 a pop and earn your money back in about 10 years..lolzor

If i remember correctly i used m3 washers to shim up the needles. I tried using two and three with my stock setup + k&n drop-in. Worked best with two washers per needle. When i get home from work ill post the exact ones i used.

The "pause and go" results i experienced was corrected by adjusting the air fuel mixture screws. Seems ive read here that some people have to do it while others do not from a stock set up. When i went to adjust them, i found the covers had already been drilled out for me the one time the bike was in a shop (600 mile service) so it was an easy fix.

The ones I got from fastenal didn't fit inside the hole. I sent these to some people and had a lot of angry gstwinners.
I had to find at hobby store which I have to restock - thanks for reminding me.

Can someone please measure the thickness of the #3 washers? Thanks everyone for your replies, much appreciated.  :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

These are ~1/3mm. 1/4 to 1/2mm is Fine. I got some in 1 carb recently that were super fat. Nearly 1/2mm+.
Lowes/HD/Ace sells some in plastic. Pretty good fit if you can find em. Hobby shop is next idea. Take the diaphragm with you.

i thought they were #4 washers ? stainless is what i hope you're looking for.

i bought mine at ACE hardware, if you can get someone to show you the STAINLESS section, the rest is easy cheese. Lowes didn't have them, iirc.

i bought about 50 of them since they were cheaper by the dozen. if i find them i'll post them out for shipping cost... :)

No, I have a 2001 so I need #3. Thanks for the help but I'm waiting on bolts and washers from Buddha. By the way, do the carb kits come with magic powder or do I have to pay extra. The powder should be a good addition to the 10HP boost the gsTWIN decal will provide.  :D

I used the m3 metric washers as suspected. I have two on each needle. I remember them being a perfect fit, and matched exactly with the stock washer and e clip already on the needle. According to my micrometer, the ones i used are .6 mm thick.

These worked just fine on my 2007 model. Hope it helps.

sledge

0.06mm? that IS thin for a washer........sure you dont mean 0.6mm?

respite

Thanks for pointing that out. I did mean .6mm. Post edited.
