I entertained that idea, but there really isn't enough room.  The minimal room under the seat is used for the wiring.  Plus the exhaust piping would be more complicated.  Not to mention the taillight/turn signal/tag mount dilemma.  I think the side mounted exhaust was the best alternative.

I'm glad you guys like my build!

I guess I cant say much as originally I planned an undertain for mine, but as I get closer to time to run the exhaust the more and more difficult it seems and its probably not going to happen.  You should be proud of your work, it looks top notch and I cant wait to see the completed project! (That is if you ever stop changing things and finish it! lol)

:technical:  I know, right!!  It won't be long now.  Steering stem will be done in a few weeks.  It will all be together and rideable as soon as I receive the stem.

At least your making progress!  I'm laid out on the couch with my newly broken foot propped up and enjoy the "Vitamin V" (vicodin) that was prescribbed for my double spiral fracture of my 5th metatarsal! lol  I'd give anything to feel up to working on the bike right now!

Send me some of those "vitamins" and I might work faster!   :o  Just kidding, hope you feel better soon!

utgunslinger13

I could NEVER part with my vitamins, I like them WAY TO MUCH! but I'd be tempted to take one FOR you in celebration of any progress you make!  At this point I'm just happy I only had to miss 1 day of work and not expecting surgery!

why do you need a custom stem, can't you just press in the gs stem?

06 GSXR 750.  My GS has a welded in stem.  So if it was removed it would have to be rewelded, but the GSXR triple is aluminum.  An 04 GS press in stem has a snap ring on the bottom.  I would have to modify the GSXR triple to accomadate the ring, also a spacer/bushing would have to be made for the top of the stem since the GS stem is smaller.  The custom stem seemed like the best way to go.  Then I can use OEM GSXR top nuts.

The Buddha

Have you tried to get the stem out of the lower triple by chance. I tried on my ... secret, undeclared .... glukclukclab bike that has a similar FE and I never could remove the bloody stem.
I'll watch this close and follow your lead on yanking the stem. Of course you get the stem out you can just machine it to where it needs to be.
Its lower bearing is 30,, and upper is larger tha 25 where it has to take the upper bearing. Easy to machine it down and sleeve that hole inside the triple. Or you can fit a stem nut with a sleeve (like a GR 650 stem nut) and fit that in ... and slap this triple on it cos its almost 30mm OD sleeve ... muhahahahahaha ....
Cool.

can you take pictures of where you put the battery please?

cosmiccharlie

I don't have any pics of the battery mount, but I'll try to snap a few this weekend.

I received my custom stem last week.  I had it pressed in the bottom triple today.  I'll have the forks mounted this weekend.  My front wheel is on the way.  So the only thing I need now is headlights!   :thumb:

Front end is mounted!  GSXR front wheel will be here tomorrow.  It's finally coming together!
