How much horsepower do you have in your gs?

I haven't had it on a dyno yet.
My old motor was in the 65hp range. I'm figgern this one is good for 10 more.
Last time I rode it (in my neighborhood) here's what happened.
Rolling along in first- Hammered the throttle.
Rear tire lit up and got squirrley, then brought up the frontend.
Set it down and grabbed 2nd- Power wheelie all the way till I grabbed third and shut it down :o  :o  :o
The other motor would loft the front a few inches in second on a good drive but NEVER did this.
At the track when I was having problems it still pulled a 600 on the straight and it wasn't running as strong as this. ;)
Next upgrade is an aluminum tank and ram air system. :thumb:

can you tell me what engine mods you have on the bike?

this is what i'm doing now....rejet 150 and 40, k&n pod filter, 15 tooth sprocket, straight line from gas tank to the carbs, and shave the head...how much should i shave the head for good power and rideability?
any other good engine mods? i'm not going racing but i just want a fast 500 street bike..

I'm not sure how much to mill off the head. I increased compression with custom pistons.
I would suggest putting some type of on/off valve btween the tank and carbs.
If the fuel is left on all the time it will overflow the carbs and could even seep into the oil over time.
For the street I'd do the basic mods;
Jet kit/ pod filters
Ignition advancer
exhaust system
You can also mill the head a bit for compression and do a mild port job.
Maybe a mild cam, but that starts getting into money

If the floats are working properly then there should not be a problem with flooding the engine. I never turn mine off.
Common sense in not very common.

I've had fuel seep into my crankcase before if the bike isn't ridden for a few months.

That's one bad mofo GS you got there Bob. I'm assuming your compression is high enough to require race fuel with those numbers?

:lol:  :lol:  :lol:  :mrgreen:  to bad that bad thing isnt street leagal.u could probably race 600s. thats is one badass bike though. lots of money to....probably.

LOTS of time and money.
It's an ongoing project over a few years.

I told JE to give me as much compression as possible. So I'm running
VP Ultimate 4 fuel. I used to run Nutec, but the supply is sketcy and it cost more ($75.00 per 5 gals) I might try some other formulas later.
