Is there some kind of trick to installing the mirrors? I can't get the buggers to screw on...

what style mirrors do you have? F or E fairing mount or control area mount?

They look the same as my old ones (the part that screws in anyway). Putting them on my 95 E :)

you should just screw them in. i would turn the entire mirror until you have it most the way in then use a open end wrench to tighten them up.

I was thinking that after my post but i checked the 05 in the back room and unless they changed mirrors and threads looks standard

try holding the threads with your fingernails while twisting the mirror to make sure the threads are not reversed.

If you get your nails into the grooves of the threads you should be able to tell which way you need to turn the mirror to tighten it.

I got a set of mirrors for my gs that I just couldn't get started, then I realized they were left hand threads and wouldn't work on my bike.

fred

Check to see that your threads aren't lefty and then clean out the threads on the mirror mount to make sure there isn't crud in them. If you have calipers, measure the diameter and thread pitch of the old mirrors and compare that to the new ones... Whatever you do, don't try to force it and mess up the threads on your mirror mount, then you'd have to go to bar end mirrors...
