So I wanted to put a little survey out there.  I currently have a Feildsheer riding jacket which is OK for cold or cool weather but with spring quickly approaching, I'm looking into an armored shirt from Bohn or an EVS Ballistic Jersey.  Now I was wondering:

1.  Has anyone had experience with either of these products?

2.  What is your riding gear?

For those who are wondering what I'm talking about, I'll posted some pics:

1. No, but they look like "dirt bike pads" not street coverage. Asphalt is unforgiving.

2. Aerostich Roadcrafter (gore-tex/cordura/waterproof/many pockets)

or Hein Gericke V-pilot pants and Schott jacket (heavy leather).

2a. Tested the Schott on asphalt before buying the pants. Denim==road rash. Bad idea. Gear up. AGATT

Those armored vests are usually for dirt riding, where impact is more of a concern than abrasion.  I tried on the EVS one, and I didn't even like it for dirt.  Very lightweight and soft.

I have a perforated leather jacket for hot weather.  It ventilates, it shades me from the sun, and if I were to crash, it would protect.

I have a pressure suit for dirt (with an integrated back protector).  For supermoto, I wear my roadrace leathers (with integrated armor and a CE level 2 back protector); if there's asphalt involved, I feel better in leather.

The stereotype around these parts are that Icon armored vests over T-shirts are the preferred gear for squids.  Won't do you much good if you fall, but the chicks at the Gellert Starbucks dig 'em.

I definitely planned on wearing my leather on top but the jacket I have (and love - custom fit by myself - dont ask  :icon_sad:), but it doesn't have any armor and thats a must.  The Bohn gear is CE approved and figured it might make a suitable alternative to buying another high quality leather jacket just to get the armor.

I appreciate the input and if anyone else has 2 cent to put in, I'm all ears.  I have a tough time finding gear that fits well.  I'm only 5'7 and have a short torso and wide shoulders.  Yes, kinda goofy   So just about anything out there is too long or to tight in the chest.

In the US, I don't know if there's any regulation for calling something 'CE.' :p  The certifications that I look for are EN1621-1 for limb protection and EN1621-2 for back protection.  There are two levels of the latter, 1 and 2.

I would recommend this - although I haven't had the best luck with Alpinestars gear, their pressure suits are the exception.  M'boy has this one, and it's been very good to him in crashes; I have the female version, seen in that pic.  It has a Level 2 back protector.

I have their Level 2 back protector.  I haven't crash-tested it yet, though.

You're right.  CE Approval ATLEAST meets the criteria of those.  CE approval is a EU classification.  Here in the US, F*** it.  You can sell anything as long as it looks like it works.  Atleast with CE Approval, the protective gear has atleast been tested to work.

Cover up that C-7.

The EVS seems to hold up pretty well to what travis pastrana and the nitro crew put it threw.  I think they did a test in one of the thrillbillies videos where they dragged a guy behind an suv on concrete and he was fine. It sold me.  So Im prolly going to buy that one myself.

Read carefully the end of my post above. Roadrash hurts. Go buy leather pants, they cost less than the emergency room visist they may save your ass from. And I do mean "Save your ass" in the literal sense, here.

I have one of those armour shirts from AXXO from e-bay $60. Is very comfortable (unless your female then it squishes the chest a bit). I mainly wear it in the summertime here in Florida it gets bloody hot and even my gxair gets too hot. I so sometimes through a jacket or a shirt over it But it covers all the pressure points and fits quite snug so it doesn't seem like it will peel away in a slide.

When I get a chance I'll post up a pic of it
