I'm breaking a full bike...down to the internals...including sharkskinz sides and a solo-tail.  Post if you need something.

ohgood

i wonder if the forks are considered any good ?

I don't think many.  The front wheel would be a candidate, but it has smaller rotors.  Rear wheel would be a candidate...all you would have to do is swap in the GS500 bearings and a wheel spacer from a GS500 to have a 4"X18" wheel.  The forks and triples are a good swap and that's why they're on MY Gs lol.  I have a sharkskinz R6 solo tail that would work with a little modding.  I don't really think there's much...but I do know a couple of guys here do (or did at one time) race an FZR.

What?  WHAT?!  No one wants any FZR parts?

Really, though, I'm looking into the odds of running the FZR rear wheel on the GS...is that anything that would be of interest?

If the front werent spoken for, I'd LOVE the FZR brake calipers honestly. My ZX10 needs some 4 piston fronts.

WHY you'd want a 18" rear wheel baffles me. the tire choices SUCK.  I'll keep my 17"s on my bikes.  I'm MAKING F2 rims fit my ninja to get 17" rims, screw oddball wheel sizes.

you have the twin headlight front end? I might be into that if you do.

I've got the lights, but not the stay it bolts to or the upper fairing...already sold.  People like to run these things into other things.

Meh, the rear wheel is okay...not easily compatible...but ok.  18" tires have limited options but there's still good ones.

What year ZX10?  I've got Tokico 4-pots...I'm trying to sell them with my old GS front end ('79 forks adapted to fit a GS500 wheel, dual 310mm rotors, and the tokico 4-pots) but if I can sell it all I may break it up.  If the If the YZF calipers are ideal, though, I can check on some prices for you...there's a few thundercats being broken I'm familiar with.

My ZX is THE first year Ninja 1000R. 1986.  I BELIEVE 88-90 ZX10 and most ZX11 calipers will fit, but I'm not positive.  I'd need center to center measurements on the bolt holes and a good picture of the caliper to know 100%  on them.

Let me get a look at the headlight setup.  I want to do something different on my good bike soon. not digging the stock single headlight thing, and I'm toying with an idea for an FZXR hybrid of sorts.

I'll get some pics and some measurements of various calipers tomorrow.  If I were you, though, I wouldn't worry too much about dimensions for the calipers...just get which ones you think are slick and run them.  Build brackets that mount to your forks and hold the calipers where they need to be.

Sift through this and look at my "maggot" cx pics to see how I did the front brake on it and look at my GS750 pics to see the hangers I whipped out for it.

I was looking at that.  I'm IDEALLY trying to get a direct bolt on thing, if I can do that with less fab work.

Right now I'm considering a few possibilities for my bike.   I KNOW I'm doing an F2 CBR wheel conversion with spacers and a 530 chain over the 630 and 16" piece of crap rims that really SUCK.  Eventually I'll post some pictures of it.

better to go with 525 or 520...you can get roller 520's for $20 all day...but you'll need to cut down for clearance issues if you're intending to run a 160.

However, running a CBR600F2 enkei with the 276mm rotors with no spacers you're going to have issues running 4-pots alone...and you're not going to have any bolt on possibilities.  Anything you do will require a new hanger.

bobthebiker

Cant get a 520 conversion for the 86 ZX1000.  smallest existant is a 530 conversion, whcih is the lightest I'm comfortable with on that size.  I ride a lot and I ride hard, so 520 is TOO light,  530 is tough enough to last longer, whcih is what I need.

And I actually measured everything out between a ZX1000 rim and the F2 rim, since they both sit in my room, rotor to rotor they're equally wide.

meh...even the cheap 520's exceed 7500lbs, which is a lot more than a 20 year old ZX1000 could ever put on it.  That's more than a brand new GSXR1000 could put on it.  Sprocket Specialists also make an appropriate staggered 520 countershaft sprocket.  Entirely to the owner what's done, but you should "feel" in any way limited.

bobthebiker

my complaint is that 520 wont last too long lifespan wise on a bike making 70+ lb ft of torque, and I'm not really interested in buying chains left and right cause I ride my bike daily and am insane.  530 hardly needs adjustments even, which thrills me.   the 630 thats on this bike LOOKS like it may be original, even with something like 39k miles on it.  not positive but it sure looks like it is.
