Im sure if you talk real nice to someone on the forum , they might have a motor sitting around that you could swap out for cash and your old motor.  Otherwise ebay a good low mileage motor.

Just curious... how did you ruin an engine that only had 5,000 miles on it?
Did you get it that way or did something happen to it since you owned it?
Like I say, just curious...

I rode it to cali, everything was cool, but on the way back it fried in New Mexico.  I checked the oil like 30 miles before it happened and it read fine, but whatever.  Anyway, Suzuki has got to have the worst customer service in the history of horrible customer service.  Needless to say even though I checked the oil and kept oil in it, they say the warranty wont cover it....pfft. whatever.  Im not gonna replace the engine on it, but if no one on here wants it (for a reasonable price), one of my soldiers here is thinking about taking it, in which case, he'll need a motor, but Ill refer him to here first.

I would love to take it off you, but shipping precludes reasonableness for both of us.

Was it still under warranty?  Ever hear of a "lemon law"?  I would look into that if I were you...

What is wrong with the motor, btw?

Big Lou

its still under warranty until may. As per above, suzuki is refusing to pay for it.  I dont know specifics about what EXACTLY is wrong, other than it is "fried".  They said it would cost mucho dollars to fix (after looking on ebay, determined it would be cheaper just to buy a used engine than to fix this one). Motor turns over so it aint frozen, just wont start or run.  Everything else on the bike is fine.  Never laid down, yadda yadda, so on and so forth, etc... what do you guys think I can get for this, or could I get more by parting it out?

As long as you didn't kill the motor by prolonged red-lining and it has good oil in it, take it to the Suzuki dealer it ORIGINALLY CAME FROM and THEY HAVE TO FIX IT.  IT IS UNDER WARRANTY.  As long as you didn't abuse it, they will make the repair and bill Suzuki for it.  The dealer will lose no money.  Don't roll-over on this.  Since it turns over it sounds to me like it's probably an ignition problem.  I'm not convinced the engine is "fried".  Good luck and hold your ground!  If for whatever reason they don't want to cover it, call a lawyer.  Military members get free or very cheap legal services as part of your benefit package.  If you really did rev the piss out of it, admit it!  By the way, thank you for serving our country!

When you say Suzuki denies the claim, do you mean the DEALER denied the warranty claim?  or did SUZUKI, the company, deny the claim?

Dude, I don't care... Go to a dealer - it doesn't have to be the original one, though that helps, and TELL them it's under warranty and they're going to fix it under warranty.  If they won't, tell them you want to speak to a manager.  Tell that person you want his name for when you call a lemon lawyer.  If that doesn't work, call a lemon lawyer.  They can't just not fix it.  There has to be a reason, and it better be a good one - warranties are governed by state and federal law (mag-moss).

If the engine is turning, but not turning over, I don't think your engine is bad at all.  Check the compression, for example  Look around the site and see if you recognize your symptoms.  Otherwise, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would consider taking your perfectly fixable bike off you cheap.   :icon_lol:

hmmmm, that blows.  I have 6500+ on my 08 which i bought in June of 08 and havent rode but 400 miles since october of 08.  Theres somethign wrong in there thats not your fault.  Im a little heavy wristed and forgetful of oil consumption at times and my baby runs great still.  You need to march in there, and demand they fix it.  Whoever it is that told you they cant fix it is a lazy ass who doesnt know how the system works.  They pretty much directly insulted your inteligence.
