i watched some arena super-cross over the weekend and was wondering what everyone here thought was more dangerous form of motorcycle racing- super-cross or one of the big class road racing?
i've followed the Ise of Mann races over the years, and based on just this circuit i'd have to vote road-racing.

one of my all time faves though was Ivan Mauger and speedway racing- there was just something about the way that gentleman rode those bikes that really shook me up!

Lots and lots of broken feet, collar bones and arms in off-road racing in general.   The surfaces are rough and traction can be unknown.  Jumps, woods, tight spaces and undulating terrain provide all kinds of opportunity to hit the ground from well above the height of the seat.

Road racing seems to be a little easier on your body, unless you hit something while sliding 120MPH on your ass.   >:(
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

It's a tradeoff, IMO.  Crashing is more common in the dirt, but people don't tend to get seriously effed up, as the speeds are lower and the bikes are lighter.  Dirt riding tends to be a younger person's game for that reason - little rubber bastids can crash all day long and just jump right back up.

Unless you're Ruben Xaus, and have crashing down to an art.

Isle of Man is its own catagory.  Uncontrolled real-roads racing at high speeds, often with no runoff and plenty of hard things right next to the track to hit.

Agreed.....
people die every year at the TT and its not the falling off that causes it, its the smashing into a drystone wall at 100mph + that does it and this is why you wont ever see any of the real big names there   :D

Try a virtual lap of the TT course?
