On another cycle board; Lewis form The Electrical Connection out of Knoxville, TN, mentioned having found a fuel system cleaner that actually seems to work.  Its called 44K by BG and can be found with a Google.  I mention all of this because its not too uncommon for pics of carbs on this site to show some pretty grubby deposits.  I dunno if this product works or not, but maybe worth a try.
