185 km/h - Things go past awful quick, once it hit that i back off.. and haven't gone anywhere as ridiculously fast since. Curiosity made this cat soil himself.

Each June here in Terre Haute, Indiana, we have our "Mayor's Ride" to benefit our humane society.  The ride is a police escorted tour around the town.  The majority of the ride is tame; first and second gear max.  However, we are rewarded late in the ride with a blast down our local international airport's main landing strip.

No speed limit. :icon_twisted:

I've had my '99 GS up to an indicated 125.  All out.  Tucked.  Ev'rything she's got cap'n.  I'll leave it to you all to correct the speedometer and guess how fast I was actually going, but it seemed pretty fast to me.

This year should be even more interesting on the SV.   8)

120 on a decline road, no wind really either way. Speaking of wind, when I rode down to San Jose and back I took a trip over the Benecia bridge...never again. Side winds about took me off the bike and had me swerving all the way across.

I live in Corpus Christi, Texas.  Down here the wind has been so bad lately it almost pushed one of my buddies into oncomming traffic.  I think im a pro at handling wind now lol.  I have gotten to 95 to pass a car.  Stopped cause I didnt have to go any faster.

130 indicated, it was all out in 5th gear, with tuck so about 117 in real life but, you could feel it was not very stable. Any sort of turn could spell disaster.

I live in Colorado so the altitude reduces max speed (and power for that matter).  The best I've done is about 95 mph.  I just put on a 15 tooth front sprocket so I'll have to give it another try.  Only with no cars around!

sprocket will reduce high end... u will go slower...

well, kinda, but not really. it's possible to use the gear ratio to your advantage, and actually go faster. you're fighting wind resistance, and the gearing. one can help over power the other. ;)

cool thing is you don't have to re-calibrate your speedometer :)

125mph indicated. I can't wait to try it again with the GPS.

My top speed is classified information...  I want to keep my licence!

However, I have seen a GS do over 100mph, and the person who was riding it reckoned it could have gone faster.

i dont doubt that it could have kept going cause when i got to 100 it was still accelerating quite quickly, well quicker than u would have thought anyway.

I've got the slowest top speed.  55mph ftw!  Well, it'll go a lot faster but I'm new on a bike and 55 is just fine and dandy for me.  I'd also like to live to see my son grow up.

ah yes but to pass your test over here you have to do nationaly speed limit on a dual carraigeway or country road and i got the dual carraigeway so i had to do 70mph

Eh, no hurry. It took me a while to work up to freeways and much longer to get comfortable with them. Nothing wrong with taking it slow.

You'd be right if the bike was red line limited but I beleive since it is drag limited, getting more torque from the new sprocket should make me go faster! I htink that's right.

i've had mine up to 160k/hr (100mph) but it might have got higher than that before i put the 14T front sprocket in...

I got up to 98 once going to St. Augustine on I-95. Was following a friend in a SUV didn't think to say hey if you plan on going 100 in a cage give me the directions so I could get there in one piece. So, all of sudden were going 76 no prob but up and up. Nasty cross wind so I sped up to get around to have them pull over. They were  like waving and such. Then I realized they didn't know any hand signals. Pointed to the gas tank she finally pulled over 20min later. Thank goodness it wasn't gas for me. So, I told her that 95 on an interstate with cross winds was a bit scary. She was like I didn't even feel a wind. You're in a SUV duh!

I do 85 on the Turn Pike without much issue. I will lean over on the tank pack and that is pretty comfy.
