Does anyone know the deck height of an installed stock piston in a stock cylinder?  Or would someone who has their head off mind checking?  I searched but couldn't find it.  That (and a head) are the last things on my list to get a custom set of JE pistons made.

Deck Height  = Stroke/2 + Rod Length + Piston Deck Clearance

I have all so seen it calculated:  Bore x Bore x 0.7854 x Distance between Piston and Deck at TDC

I don't know if they work out the same.  I am not sure where the 0.7854 as a constant comes from.  Any way, I don't know the rod length so I can't do the first calculation.

The second calculation should be:

2.913 x 2.913 x 0.7854 x 0.0022 = 0.14662

You absolutely want to run this by a builder or a machinist to be sure.

You are the man.

Anyway just to make sure I have it all right what I was looking for is the distance the outside edge of the piston sits under the machined top of the cylinder.  All stock of course.  I've always thought it was called deck height, but after reading more I think my terminology was incorrect.

I think that what I'm actually looking for would be the .0022 inches which is your number for distance between piston and deck at TDC.  Do I have that correct?

Thanks.

ps You are the MAN.

Yes, you are correct.  The 0.0022 is an average.  I am pretty sure the clearence is 0.0020 to 0.0025
