Any opinions on these two riding pants?

So, I can't decide between these two.
I don't have sport-type boots, yet, I'm a little limited.
These leather ones from Tourmaster are nice, with the hip armor.

However, these Scorpion synthetic+leather pants have liners that the leather ones don't.

I'm open to suggestions.
My motivation is a long highway ride to see my folks.  Otherwise, I mostly take short trips through the city (to school and back, etc.).  I don't plan on wearing them on short rides to school and such, due to lack of a top-box.  And, no, I don't have buddies that will lock them up in their car for me, since I'm not the friendliest person in the world.

I would say go with the water-resistant ones.  On a long trip you're likely to get caught in the rain, and cordura is a lot lighter than leather.  Don't forget your long johns!

I have a leather motorcycle jacket with removable liner.  Good protection, warm enough, and makes my g/f swoon, but leather isn't the best material anymore.  Synthetics are lighter, just as tough, probably tougher, and more water resistant.  Leather weighs 43 lbs, so I am inclined to avoid leather in the future.

i would go with the Scorpion as well.  When i had my sportster I bought the harley leather jacket and it was very heavy.  It is warm to a point then once it gets cold its cold.  It will hold alot of water out but once it soaks through your soaked for a very long time.

go for the scorpions. i'm assuming sight unseen, that they'll be better quality than the cheaper (looking) leather pants you linked.

the SC's will breath better, and you won't hate them on hot days. not to mention the removable waterproof (don't trust waterproof it's really resistant!) liner is a big plus.

don't forget to get some nice boots with ankle protection. get em a little tight, and they'll stretch once you wear them. NEVER wear new boots on a long ride ;)

good luck with the trip !

Thanks!
I'm taking it under advisement.

I'm definitely drooling over the water-resistant liner right now, given the recent weather.  Just didn't know if I should trust the synthetic pants over the leather for any speeds over 35 mph.
You guys wouldn't, say, perform a leather-stomy and punch holes with a dremel or something?

I appreciate the advise, don't get me wrong.  Just trying to quell some doubts.
