More Cargo Storage?

Has anyone modified the underseat storage area to gain more space? I'm looking for more space just to put stuff for short jaunts. Maybe even a little rain gear. Something I'd definitely like to do since I don't really want to have saddle bags or a tank bag unless I'm going on long trips. Any pics would be helpful. Thanks!

For short trips I like my tail bag, just bungees on and gives more space than any underseat mod and is less cunbersome than a tank bag.

It has been done. I think the "what do you keep under your seat" post that was floating around recently had some pictures... You could just carry a tank bag everywhere though. I've really never gone on a ride where the tank bag wasn't useful. It usually has my rain gear, an extra pair of gloves, my wallet and my house keys at a minimum.

oh no, let's not start a "what do you keep in your tank bag" thread or we'll be getting claims of a TV or mini-fridge or folded up ping pong table or something  :cookoo:

Currently using a Joe Rocket Manta tank bag, and Rapid Transit saddle bags.  Underseat storage leaves alot to be desired.

I think i will just have to get a tank bag.

Also, where are you located in Atlanta? I'm moving up there in June. I'll be in North Druid Hills - my girlfriend is going to be attending grad school at Emory. I'm sure there's some great back roads for riding up there.

I'm in Lawrenceville in Gwinnett County near the Mall of GA (biggest mall in the Southeast :woohoo:). You're midtown, cool area near Buckhead. Haven't explored too many roads yet as I only got my first street bike last summer.

OH NO MORE GEAR THREADS AHHHHHHH!

I'm not posting anymore gear pics until we get the gear area! I'm on strike! But, im 99% sure this bag is AWESOME

krap did it again! But you can do a search on rapid transit recon 19 and find all of my raves about it! Fred has one too! All I can fit under the seat is a bungee net or a baseball cap not both.

Thanks Mary. How much do those run?

I took a 120 mile round trip ride the other day and just fashioned my own tank bag out of some straps and my AOPA flight bag. Worked quite well actually. Just need to get one that has a map pocket so I can know where I'm going!

This will have to work until I get something better.

Hi Mary,

I have similar RT bags.  I was trying to figure out how you got the bags on without them rubbing against the rear signals.  My bags always touch them and then I noticed your green bottle on the back.  I think you have them on backwards cause the zipper should run from back to front and the little net holding the soda towards the front.  But hey, if it works.  Might try it your way to keep bags away from signals.

It also may be good to note I have after market turn signals that are much smaller than stock! I will see if it goes both ways. I never really thought about it until I saw some pics!
