I've got a potential buyer for my Duc coming today.  If all goes well, I'm going to contact this guy, check it out and probably offer him 5-5.5 (actual NADA value) and then figure out which car I'm going to sell.

Yes you're an idiot. Keep the Duc, riding season is upon us.

You know the difference between a Maserati and a Porcupine?

With a porcupine the pricks are on the outside...LOL
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

Initially I heard stories about $100 distributor caps, $700 head gaskets, but a quick ebay search seems to have disproven most of this (the distributor cap is $100, but the HG is only 200 and a rebuilt 50k engine has a BIN of 1300.)
I guess I should see what Geico thinks first.

I think back in 1993 when I was trolling around Atlanta for 3-4 months this same damn car (or some so similar to it) was up for ~10K. I went there only to be really disappointed that it looked like a ... well ... that. I was expecting a Vora like body.
That was when I actually was into exotic crap ... instead of pedestrian crap. Which I have found is just as exciting but a lot cheaper.
Cool.

Wussy that's what makes life exciting...

You couldn't pay me to take that car, seriously. Classic sports cars especially pasta makers are cantankerous as all get out. Have fun with carbon fouled valves, your gonna pay for that baby in either maintenance because you cant drive it in the manner dictated by its design or in tickets by driving like it was meant to be driven.

Didn't Top Gear talk about how horrible the bi-turbo was/is?

spc

Probably, a guy on another board says the only problem is that things break faster than you can fix them :cookoo:

I'm still thinking, but I guess I shouldn't even worry about it unless he's willing to drop that price drastically.  A guy on the Porsche board is selling a later FI model that's MINT for 6500.

The thing is kinda like a train wreck, it's so damn ugly you just can't stop looking at it.

Turbo's are shot.  He swears they aren't but the guys I know that have had these cars told me what to look for.  Can't actually find turbo's by themselves for sale and he's unwilling to lower the price ( I offered him 2 because that's what the guys said it was worth with shot turbos)

I thought that episode was the one where they had to drive through the south with crap painted on their cars.  Then in some small Alabama town they thought they were going to be murdered then broke down trying to escape :icon_lol:

Now if you had been looking at a ferrari Daytona ti would be a different story, I would have said go for it.

shaZam!, if it were an Fcar this thread wouldn't have been posted.  There'd just be a thread full of new vehicle pictures.

There's a late 80's quattro for sale locally that I may look at.  At least those have some power to go with the ugly looks.

Right then boys lets fire up the Quattro!

LOL we've been watching ashes to ashes on BBC

Watching BBC can be detrimental to your health and if you watch Top Gear, your wallet.  I can't count the number of 'oooh, I want!!!' moments I have in each Top Gear episode.

we don't have any shows in the US that same quality of Top Gear. All our shows are "American Idol", or some other crap. Complete crap. We gave up on cable (television is all cable in the US if you want any channels) and watch youtube instead.

The episode involving driving pink cars through the south was separate. It was true to life though, except they didn't get to sample any fried chicken or sweet tea. they wouldn't have gone back to england if they had ;)

not to mention the southern belles......
