Garage Remote operates on high beam

Hey guys i am wondering about installing a garage remote control up to the same switch for the pass light. I was wondering if anyone else has done it and if they have how did they go about it.

I have had a look at the wiring diagrams and there should be ample of power to run this little thing but. I have to drop the voltage from 12V to 9V. What is the easiest way of doing this?

Ill take pics of the installation and hopefully put together a how too if all goes to plan.

Easiest way is to connect 6 or 7 diodes in series with the red wire on the remote.

My remote is 12 volt, and apparently works fine with 13-14 volts while the bike is running.

He's right.  or you can use a real regulator like this: http://www.zen22142.zen.co.uk/Circuits/Power/9v2a.htm

Yeah, use a regulator. They're easy to work with and they will do what you need. I also have one of the 12 volt garage door openers... It is one of the little key fob sized ones. It takes these weird little batteries that put out 12 volts. I plan to stick my remote in my headlight bucket one day and just attach it to power that comes on when the ignition is on. The gate to my apartment complex closes automatically, so I don't care if the transmitter is just running all the time and I think it will handle it without melting. Also, I'll open every 1024th garage door on the same frequency as I ride around, which could be fun...
