Well I finally got my GS500 running today  :D I bought the bike from a guy and it took him forever to get it started when I went to get it. I brought the bike home and started looking at reasons why it would be so hard to start. The vacuum plugs on the carbs were both capped off so I assumed this would be the reason for it being hard to start, I also swapped the petcock at the same time(which was a terrible idea) because I thought this may have something to do with the hard starting as well. Anyways, I ended up fixing the vacuum lines, rebuilt the carbs and went to start the bike. The bike ended up pouring gas into the airbox and I had non idea why. I had all my lines routed properly and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. Anyways today a buddy came over and we were looking the bike over, he asked me if I had a spare petcock from my parts bike and I said ya, so he went and got it, took it apart and started looking at it. He said I bet you've got a rip in the gasket of that petcock. So off came the lines, off came the petcock and what do ya know, there wasn't a gasket or spring inside haha. So I put the good petcock on and voila, bike fired right up. I'm pretty happy it works now lol, gotta do some fine adjustments on it, I think the slides are gummed up cause it tends to hang on rpm's sometimes and Its got a brand new cable which isn't catching on anything. So if you ever get gas into your air box, check your petcock hahah
