For those of you who installed new grips with hairspray as lube/adhesive, Do you also need to use grip glue, or do you just use the hairspray on its own, thanks.

I think all you need is the hairspray. A few months ago I installed progrip gel grips and didn't need anything they stick very well!

I've tried every "super hold" hair spray out there, without much effect.

Now, I use Scotch 77.

Mask off the area around your bars before you spray it, it's permanent!

I spray a little on the top and bottom of the bar, then a little in the grip.  Assemble IMMEDIATELY!!!  You have about 3 seconds, if you're lucky, to get the grip where you want it. :o

Haven't had a grip slip in years.   :D
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Hairspray didn't work for me either.  Installing the gel grips, I used a few shots of flat black spray paint and they slid on ez and stuck like glue.  The paint dries very quickly.

My grips are just wired on. They stay where they're supposed to and when I want to get them off, I can just cut the wire and replace it. Works well for me...

I've always used hairspray from my bmx days in the late 70's, and it has never failed me.   I just spray it on kinda heavy on the bar, give a small shot into the grip, and slide it on.
Attack but have a back up plan

Yeah, but 70's hairspray probably contained a whole lot more volatile substances that have now been found to do terrible things like create ozone holes and cause cancer. It is possible that the 70's hairspray actually partially dissolved the grip or the paint on your bars and made things stick and modern hairspray does not...

I didnt need anything on mine, the left side is tight and dosent move at all and the throttle is over the plastic bearing and was also tight to get on.

Did you notice that one of the grips has a larger diameter for the throttle side?

Gotta let hairspray dry a bit, never had a problem before, just leave it in the sun for an hour and it's stuck good.

Lol, I can't remember what brand hairspray I used on my GS grips, I stole it from my 19 year old daughter.   I don't think it was 70's era though  O0!
