I replaced the clutch and brake lever now my bike wont start. My lights and everything work but when i push the start switch nothing happens. Is it possible for the battery to have the juice to turn the lights on but not to even try to crank over? could i have broke a saftey switch when replacing the clutch?

You need to adjust your clutch lever switch. If the clutch lever switch isn't activated by you pulling in the lever, the bike won't start. It is a safety feature. Should be easy to fix and at worst you'll need a new switch, which is a cheap item...

Wow quick reply! i checked my clymer and it shows every other switch and how to replace it but not clutch switch. Where  is it and how do i adjust it?

the clutch switch is under your clutch lever perch.  if you replaced your lever you had to take it out to get your lever out unless you just yanked it out cuz it was "stuck"

Yeah, also if the bike is old it could have just disintegrated when you touched it. The front brake switch on my '94 broke in to many pieces one day when I was plugging in a new spade connector to replace the original that had gone bad. The plastic was so brittle it just came apart when I applied the slightest of force to it. That switch was only a few bucks from the dealer, I'm sure a clutch lever switch wouldn't be any more expensive...

That switch had to come out huh no wonder why it was so hard to get the lever out... Well i guess thats how you learn lol. So what part of the switch did i break. Damn i feel like a d.a

I think there is a tiny piece of plastic that may have fallen.  Look around the floor.  And if you cant fix the switch, you can bypass it by unplugging  the switch and reconnect the male/female connectors on the wiring harness side.  Beware that it will let you start the bike in gear and clutch engaged if the sidestand is up.
