this thing looks like it kicks like a freaking mule....but, on the other hand, if your first shot is placed well, i suppose the amount of recoil wont matter.

You could certainly ruin someone's day with that.

I'm probably going to rent one of those next weekend at the range.  That'll f%$k someone's day up and be a little gentler on the wrists.

i've not shot many handguns so i may be a bit mistaken but wouldn't a large caliber, smaller frame gun kick more than a larger frame of same caliber?  :dunno_white: i'm guessing the larger frame/longer barrell length will also make it more accurate over longer distances.....   :dunno_white:

.45LC<.500

They both are gonna have some punch to em.  I let ya know what the judge is like after next weekend.

what about differences from revolver-pistol? assuming both are firing identical size ammo.  largest revolver i've shot is a .38. biggest pistol 9mm.

As a general rule of thumb yes but not always.  It's not the caliber of the bullet that makes it kick but the amount of bang behind the bullet and the design of the weapon system.   Think 38 special vs 357 mag and 44 special vs 44 mag.  Same caliber bullets but different amount of power.

in some instances yes. i had had for the longest time a smith 500. SNUBBY err 4"bbl IIRC. i took it, and a friends smith 500 wiht a 10"bbl to some propperty  ( along wiht his m95  :icon_twisted: ) for a day of fun. the snubby of mine KICKED my ass. plus with teh chest pain i have on the left side. teh jarring was too much to take. so it was sold/traded for some smaller cal. guns. i miss that piece. the m95 I WANT ONE .
[threadjack] BTW i passed teh CCW sunday. aced teh test, and scored 100% in the shooting exam. with a pt22 taurus. how hte hell i did it, idk i had a 4" grouping at 20 yards, maybe it was previous training? idk, BUT its doen now. now time to cough up some more funds to the state so i can have my citizens CCW[/threadjack], sorry bout that. im like stoked

SPC, let me know what you think of the Judge.  I'm trying to decide between that and a 38sp as a snake gun. Incase I go hiking/fishing. I'm interested how the 410shell will do compared to a 38 with shotshells at snake ranges (5-10feetish).  Not to interested in it for protection from 2 legged vermin.

Chris

yama, congrats on the CCW. I'm still waiting for a date they're available that goes along with a day off for me.

Congrats on the course Yama.  Dunno how it works there, but you'd be using one of their guns for the course here.  Every range that offers it requires you use  a center-fire weapon no larger than .45ACP (Something you could conceivably conceal since it's a CWP course)

Cstilt, I'll let you know, but from a practicality POV.....the .38 will take care of snakes just fine..............then again having that .45lc available should a large cat find you could be useful.  (seriously, anything from a shotgun short of buck shot just pisses them off for the first few shells)
