Yesterday at about 1500 a guy pulled half way out from a side road onto the road I was travelling.  I didn't have time to stop and hit his front left wheel well dead on.   The Porsche is likely totalled (The front end is done for, from the bumber to the steering rack) and I woke up this morning with the most incredible sharp pains at the base of my skull.  2k mg of Ibuprofen later I'm OK, going to a local walk in clinic to see if I can get a scrip of flexeril.

Already have another '44 lined up to buy.  Gotta see how bad his insurance tries to screw me.  It should all be OK, and if not I already have a nice long letter ready to send to the state AG and Insurance Commission.   Not taking less than Low NADA, 5750.

damn man that sucks.  Don't let the insurance company duck you over, you hold the cards of the other driver was ticketed.  And you should be able to contact the insurance company and get checked out on their tab, pains after an accident could be something worse than just pains and i for one would rather be safe than sorry.

You should get more then just an Rx from the docs.  If the clinic doen't have equipment to do a proper x-ray or scans, I'd recommend going to the ER.  Pain at the base of skull is nothing to ignore.

I agree with getting full medical documentation, and following up.

Ticket writing is irrelevant at trial.  Generally ruled inadmissible.  Useful in settlement discussion though...

I got X Rays.  No real damage, just strained.  He prescribed me Valium, Lortab, and Prednisone for the next 5 days and said they'd do an MRI if things weren't better then.  No evident peripheral nerve damage.  Got a dozen detailed receipts for treament, etc.

SC is very tough on Ins. Co's and allows LEO's to assign fault.  His Ins. has already admitted fault, is getting me a rental in the AM, and hopefully will have an assessor out this week to close the property damage claim by next week.

I'm seriously considering getting rid of the Jag (serious PITA, always needs shaZam!, the latest being a $400 light control module that caught fire), stashing the cash from Ins payout on the Porschepayout and buying an Alfa Romeo 164L.

Sucks, man.

No bruising from the steering wheel?

spc

Didn't hit it.  I sit rather far back in the car because of how low the seats are.  Of course Doc said no gym until I'm off the drugs :icon_confused:

I've got a little bruising from the seatbelt across/between my pecs.

yamahonkawazuki

been there man. i DO love however how the porsche seats hold ya. yeah the belts will leave s trip /bruise across you. shaZam! im despised at docs well, one anyways. i went into ER yesterday. with severe chest pain. shortness of breath etc. waited for 20 mins in lobby. and almsot 2 hours in triage. for a 5 minute q&a session. with an ekg , and a poking and prodding "does this hurt" session. im like hsit man, if it DIDNThurt id nto be here. i dont want painkillers. i can get those easily if need be. but terry , be wary of muscle/joint damage. my chest is still on fire. but i obtained a few thigns to alleviate that. , dont let this shaZam! slide. and get you another porsche. man i cannot wait to get my rx7 vert project finished [/threadjack]

Doc is pretty sure it's nothing major.  Just a cervical strain.
I'm hopefully going to look at a 1983 928s this weekend.  Almost all the handling of a 944 and double the HP.

THEY ARE THE shaZam!   , but from what ihear water pumps are not cheap err. alternators i meant

Alternators can be sub'd with the same Bosch 115 amp replacement that 944's and 951's use.  It's the water pumps that get ya.  Porsche original is 1k, but aftermarket is usually only 4-500.

There's a guy that makes twin turbo kits for 928's that get you over 500rwhp.  I've heard of some people getting 700+.  Crazy when you consider that a stock one even with crap for low end gearing it pull off a 7 sec 0-60 and can exceed 150mph.

ayea stiock waterboxer is potent enough lol :cookoo:

Cayennes are awesome.  If you're willing to go with an early (04) they can be had pretty cheap.

Be very very careful with the prednisone! That is some nasty krap! Honestly if you think you can do without it do without it! Not being a doc but I had to take that krap last year for Chron's disease. Side effects were driving me nuts so I stopped them went into adrenal crisis spent two weeks in ICU with that then they put me on the IV krap sent me over the edge with mood swings. I'm still on entocort but have to take other meds to calm the mood swings down from that.

That drug is EVIL.

Haven't noticed any effects of the Prednisone.  I'm only on it for 5 days so I doubt I will.  The valium on the other hand has made me cheerful, which rather pisses me off.  I've been strangely tolerant.

His ins decided they wanted to be chicken suckers, they've got a bit of a surprise in the morning.  I received responses from the AG's office and my Senator's office promising to assist in encouraging an expedient and fair closure to this claim.  I told the DB that trying to fuch with me would be a poor judgement call when he told me that he didn't care if I had a vehicle to get around in or not.  I've also filed a formal complaint with the state insurance commission in SC, and GA where the office handling this claim is located.

I decided to drop the valium and I'm feeling much more 'myself'.  Bought a range bag today, getting things ready for a fun day on Saturday.  I'm going out to check out a gun club that I'm most likely going to join.  It's cheap, open 24/7 and on 75k acres.  They're having a cookout Saturday and the owner invited me to come out before I pay the dues.  I'm bringing out as much .45 as I can get my hands on, a dozen targets and 100 shells of bird shot. :icon_twisted:

Toogoofy317

I 'was' on it for two weeks but make sure you taper down just a few high doses can shut you glands down in a hurry. I was down to 10mg when I just stopped because of the side-effects. I mean one second I was like a total prick to those at work less than five minutes was balling soo bad I couldn't drive the truck! Then the shaking was trying to use chopstiks at a Japaneese restaraunt with friends they noticed and where like are you okay. Had to eat my rice with a fork I hate that. Then at night be up the whole time felt like a cat wit my claws stuck in the ceiling. I really thought I was losing it that is until I got it IV. let's just say the restraints were broken was like the hulk or something. I'm the one who can't get a bolt off a gs on a normal day and I broke out of restraints  :cookoo: I don't remember alot of the IV stuff in ICU boy did my nurses. Which was even more telling because I used to work with alot of them.

Gi doc now knows there had better be no other option for my chron's before giving me that poison again.

Just take it easy with that stuff! Got some heavy drugs on board there!
