Dear UPS

I hate you.  I hope you never get bail out money.  And I don't understand why your business model has not caused you to file for Chapter 7.

I ordered a Jardine exhaust and new brake pads for my 95 GS500.  Star Cycles (for some unkown reason) uses you as a shipper.  My shipment was supposed to arrive today.  The businesses in my office building close at 5, every weekday.  So when 5pm rolled around today, the day my package was scheduled to arrive (it was on the truck for delivery), and my exhaust and brake pads still had not been delivered, I got a bit lucky.  There was a deposition in the conference room, so the front doors were not locked.  I put a sign on the glass doors informing your delivery person to call my cell phone so I could sign for my exhaust and brake pads.

At 6pm I decided the delivery would not be made, so I went to remove the sign from the doors and to my surprise, there was a packlage sitting on the receptionist's desk.  Unfortunately, it was for another person at the firm.  Disappointed, I went back to my office to refresh my browser to see the dreaded delivery exception.  Instead, I was greeted by a "DELIVERED" status.  JJONES signed for my package.  I immediately knew that we had no JJONES at my firm and called you.

The representative was very helpful and told me that the package was delivered to suite 3900 and signed by JJONES.  The representative then noted that the package was supposed to be delievered to suite 3600.  So I offered to go up to the 39th floor to check on this.

Upon exiting the elevator on the 39th floor, I was greeted by an elevator bay and glass doors on both sides.  I was on Ernst & Young's floor.  They close at 5.  No one was there.  After all, those CPAs are now sleeping since they had to go through a hectic few months of dealing with all of those pesky taxpayers and that stupid 4/15 deadline.  Who could have signed?  JJONES?  Hmmm...what is this?  A UPS package sitting in the elevator bay....addressed to...someone at E&Y.  It was not JJONES.

Well, if my delivery person cannot deliver packages to the right suite, he probably cannot type in the proper address at which the package was left.  I think I should check other floors.  Suite 3800 has UPS packages outside of it.  Floor 37 has no suite 3700.

I decide it's best to call UPS again.  I ask that the local service center call me so we can figure out where my package was delivered because I really want to change out the brake pads, put on my new Jardine exhaust and jet my carb.  An hour later, when I know everyone is closed, even the local service center, I call UPS.  The local service center tried to call my cell phone, but was unable to get in touch with me.  I have no new voice mails.  The local service center's response: package was delivered and JJONES signed for it.  The 800 number's response: get in touch with the shipper to have them start the refund process.

My problem: I'm telling you guys a story instead of working on my bike so I can ride to work tomorrow and enjoy this wonderful New Orleans weather that is supposed to be great for the next 4 days.  One of my co-workers is taunting me because he is riding his poor man's Harley...I mean, Honda Shadow, to work every day.

I just cannot understand how a delivery person can deliver a package to an accounting firm with 2 names when the package is clearly address to skwidd c/o a law firm with five names.  Even worse, I do not understand how JJONES would even sign for the package.  I know I would never sign for a package for someone who was not at my firm, much less my floor.

I guess we'll see what tomorrow brings.  Hopefully someone at E&Y drops my Jardine Exhaust and brake pads off to me in the morning.  And we'll see what happens with the r/c mirco heli I ordered and that is supposed to be delivered tomorrow.  I didn't rush to buy the transmitter battieries because chances are it will not arrive in time to charge the battery so I can fly the thing out of my office and aggravate a secretary the day after administrative professionals day.

F you, UPS.

Love,

Sorry you don't have your parts.  But, as one who used to deliver packages for a UPS competitor, I'm going to advise that you follow the UPS suggestion to start the refund process.  If YOU did not sign for the package, SOMEBODY owes you  what you paid for.  Star Cycles will probably try to get out of it or make you wait for the package to show up.  UPS will not let you file a claim.  Be firm with Star Cycles, tell them that UPS has admitted to delivering to the wrong address (though you really don't have proof--UPS will have to tell Star).   And the thing about calling you on your cell to deliver:  No way will a driver in an urban area take the time to do that.  They will find the first body with a pulse and try to get them to sign.  The signer at a business:  Most don't care, since the stuff UPS is delivering isn't for them anyway.

I hope the person who did get your stuff gets it to you.   :dunno_white:

Yeah ups is the WORST at delivery, most like Fedex and Postal Service are just as quick to write the pick up or redelivery note which though annoying that you missed, allows you to pick it up yourself or get it redelivered. I ordered a laptop and it was literally being UPS'ed from across town. Well I saw the dreaded delivery online but no package outside, I called and UPS swore it was delivered to my house. Turns out it was delivered to my neighbor, luckily it was my good neighbor, bad neighbor would've just pocketed it. Then I'd have no recourse since UPS "delivered" it, seller isn't gonna just send another. UPS has the worst delivery practice and if possible I try to get any other delivery service even going so far as asking and paying for USPS or Fedex or DHL because they are so bad at delivering to wrong addresses, letting anyone sign, and worst of all being impossible to file any sort of claim.

They just throw stuff onto my porch and leave a note on the door saying its on the porch... They have to throw it, because I've got bushes and a 3' high porch bannister, so there's no walking up to it and dropping it over...it has to be thrown at least 5' to land on the porch furniture.

The guy probably stole it to be honest.  I have a friend who ordered an amp for his car and he never got it.  The delivery guy said he dropped it off on the patio because no one was there, but somehow the packaged was signed as deliverd and the patio was two stories up on the outside of the building, unless the delivery person was a climber, he couldnt get up there, plus it would be breaking and entering.  Sucks man, but you have to put a clam in like Paul said, thats how my buddy got his money back

Last time I had a package "Marked delivered by UPS" Signed by someone I never heard of... UPS was respponsible, not the shipper... Contacting the shipper is BS  :bs: UPS made the mistake, not the shipper... They will pay... You have proof directly from UPS that they delivered it to the wrong address... Keep calling untill  you get a check from UPS... I had to do that w/ my package, a $350 Cell phone, Day after I got my UPS check a neighbor droped by w/ my phone...

Amazingly, there is no JJONES at E&Y.  There is also no skwidd package at E&Y.  So UPS has started a trace/investigation.  I just got off of the phone with Star Cycles and they are calling UPS to verify they are aware and want an investigation started.  I told the rep at Star what happened and she thinks something funny is going on.  Star is also shipping a new exhaust and brake pads out as soon as they can.

I hate to allege that the UPS guy may have stolen the package, but I just cannot ignore that it is a possibility.

meh...

I'm the only lucky one here, the UPS man is one of my ride buddies! I get a call from him when I get a package, and he'll even deliver it to my work place for me if i'm not home!!!  :icon_mrgreen:

Kudos to Start Cycle on shipping you replacement stuff, no questions asked. That's beyond their responsibility, if you ask me. UPS is the company that screwed up.

For me FEDEX is the worst in Orlando, Kissimme, Winter Park. My riding pants were delivered to the apartment office. Uhm, I live in a Condo so we don't have an apartment complex office. Turns out they delivered it to an apartment complex accross the street. I was five minutes from them delivering it to the apartment number there. I was lucky I went out investigating!

I think all of the shippers have issues just in different locals. With me USPS is the best because my best friend used to work there and I know most of the postal workers on my route!

UPS is okay here never had a problem but I know they don't deliver here until after five so I have to be home. I know if they leave it at my door it will be gone in less than an hour. Left a tail pack on my bike for that long and it was long gone by the time I remembered I left it out there.

I have good news.  My exhaust, brake pads, AND FREE T-SHIRT showed up.  The box was not messed up or anything and everything that was supposed to be in it is in it.  I called Star Cycle immediately to let them know I received everything and they did not have to send out a replacement.  The rep told me they were waiting to see whether I would receive it today before they sent the replacement out.

Star Cycle will definitely get my business.  They were really great about everything.

So where was it?  Did UPS happen to find it "in the back of their truck" or something?  Or was it delivered to a different office.

Anyway, I know how frustrating that can be.  I'm glad I work from home now and don't have to deal with wondering where my package will be delivered.

I don't know what happened.  I figured if I called them up and asked questions, I would get a load of bologna.  The thing that was weird is the fact someone signed for it, when I know no one could have signed for it.  The office the guy brought it to was closed and another uPS package addressed to that office was sitting outside the door.  Why would someone sign for my package and not take a package addressed to their co-worker in the office?

It's all just utter incompetence.

UPS in Chattanooga are the absolute worst, I have countless tales of their screw ups but if I listed them all here, you would all get bored after page 94, and I would get angry reliving all the crappy and stupid and rude behavior they think qualifies as customer service. Surely there are some good people working there, but they are outnumbered 10-1 by the morons. I hope they go bust very soon.  >:(

Glad you got your pipes and pads!

My guess is since your package was valuable, it needed a signature.  They delivered it to the wrong suite undoubtedly, and it made its way where it belonged.  The only mystery is did an employee at another suite sign for it, or did the driver just write JJONES on the signature pad and leave it?

The world may never know, but my guess is the latter.  I wouldn't want to carry that big box back to the truck, would you?

I'm not in love with UPS either, but I could tell you worse stories about DHL.

I would rank major shippers in this order:  #1, FedEx  #2, USPS  #3, UPS  #4, Emery  #5,    :2guns: DHL

Does UPS need bailout money?  That's news to me if it's true.

i used to work for shipping company DHL.  Here is the answer to the riddle.  Most of these business when drivers deliver packages.. they know who the reciever is that is normally in the recieving docks and they have rapor with them.. so what do they do..they sign it themselves drop the package and move on to the next area..

i am not saying this is right.. iam saying that happens many many times especially if same person reciveing these packages every time..

So what happened..the ups person got your package mix delivered to an adress that has these type of deliveries..
you call you didnt recieve the package
driver checks the name and goes.. oh yea i know where i accidentally delivered it..
and bam.. you get your package..   happens all the time..

LOL!  I have not heard that UPS needs bailout money, but if they did, I would hope they wouldn't get it.

The UPS guy brings the packages up himself.  I don't think he drops them off at the dock.

I just bought a ground anchor from fly 'n' cycle and the only shipping option was ups... *crosses fingers* that, or pay $27 for usps priority... which I can't believe. You could easily fit this thing in a flat rate box for $5.  :bs:
