I need this thing gone. Its got right under 5K mi,  engine isn't seized, but bike won't run, I got no time to fix it and deployment is coming up.  Had a knock in it (bearing?), don't want to part the bike, would like to sell as a unit. Clean title and all that, bike has never been on the ground (don't know if that even matter since it's not running).  Let me know what you'll be willing to give. will haul w/in a 200 mi radius of here. might consider a trade on a bike for my wife.  Naturally it would be older, but in decent condition....

I think that is an optimistic price being that I bought mine at a dealer in perfect running order  '04 with 5k in '07 for $2800. Just trying to help you out there. But, if you do want to get rid of a right side mirror I'd love to take it off your hands. You have no idea how hard it is to get one of those without paying OEM price! LOL

A rod knock before it seizes (all of ~5 miles ...) is actually a slightly easier fix, if you ever could get someone to custom make bearings to your spec (I believe I have come across such people ... but never know till you show up with the crap) ...
You could get away with 1 set of bearings ... if you're lucky.
If you're unlucky ... its a paperweight.
This is what I'd do ...
Take off the motor and take off the pan, find the rod that is busted, and unbolt the rod (mind you the whole motor is still in 1 piece except for the pan ... so presumably you could do it with it still in the frame ... but you will ahve to get it apart ... so you  might as well yank the motor.
Take it to bearing guy and ask him if the bearing can be made with the damage in the crank/rod ... replace rod, take apart the whole motor and get the crank re ground etc etc ... then fit it back together with new rod and custom bearing.
Cool.

It might help if you posted your general location in case someone would be interested in buying it from you.

It's true, but for the sake of arguement, Im in Fort Polk, Louisiana, and willing to haul within a 200 mi radius of here.  That includes Houston, Beaumont and all cities in between, Shreveport, Lake Charles, mebbe Monroe too :dunno_white:, Natchitoches (pronounced Nag-uh-dish :cookoo:) and several other places of little to no importance that I can't think of right now.  PUHLEEEEEEEZE take this thing offa my hands (where'e the icon for on your knees begging).
