Wife just bought a GS500 and I want to get her a set of crash bars/engine guards. Shipping to either MN USA, or Ontario Canada. Let me know what you got!

There are some Euro / Aussie products available. Not sure how easy they are to get in Canada/USA?  Most designs are known to be weak -- definite fail in a crash and often fail just due to vibration and corrosion (mounting tabs break). If you can wait a bit, Buddha is (was?) gauging interest in making a batch of strong crash bars if enough people want them.  Check this thread:

Buddha got a prototype and looking for a sucker ... erm ... volunteer with an 04 and later. Soon, try by this saturday.
Yes these are strong enough to take me standing on it ... and much much more and yes they fit a 04 ... patience please, remember this is just the proto type. The real deal, yes order up but gimme a few days ...
If you guys think the cost is too much I'd blame the meddling gubbamint, the rolling printing presses and artifically souping up demand by building highways and bridges to nowhere. I'd say ~70 or so. Sorry was waiting so long for steel and material to drop, and am so mad it didn't.
One more way the "stimulus" screws up the little people.
Cool.

To clarify, and to save people having read the whole other thread, I think Buddha means that they fit all years -- '89-'00 naked E models, '01+ naked E models, and '04+ F models with fairing.

Uhh,  correct me if I'm wrong, oh great Buddha.

He's right, fits 89-09 GS500's.

What I'm thinking is - I'll get a couple made as prototypes. I'll send one out to the first 04+ guy that pays for em.
It will be ~20 bucks cheaper for being my suck ... I mean, volunteer.
Then we wait for the volunteer to check and be sure. When done, we make a bunch.
Unless my 04 volunteer is local.
Cool.

I got an '04 and might be willing to be your test dummy.  Can i see an actual picture of what they look like though.  Are they painted, powdercoated or raw steel?
K&N Lunchbox, Jardine Full Exhaust, 15T Front Sprocket, 40T Rear Sprocket, Shock Racing LED Mirrors, LED front blinker, LED Integrated Taillight, Additional LED rear blinkers, Scorpion sealed Battery, NGK Iridium Spark Plugs, Cafeboy seat cowl (in process of painting)

The Buddha

Well the prototype wasn't made, too hard, so its actually going to get made as is for real in a few days I hope, but too many variables.
I'll know next week as soon as the "race bike" get out and the FE swap etc ... yea the GR motor swap, the this and that ... sheesh.
Cool.
