I attempted my rejet today, followed the procedure from poor Man's Rejetting Pictoral, but when i went to fire her up i got nothing, the just turns over and over and over. I just got off work and picked up some good Schematics from Bike bandit which i will try in the morning, any suggestions where my problem might lie? Vacume line? also added the K&N filter, would i be corrent in assuming the tow hoses that connect to the bottom of the Stock air box get romoved? and what about the overflow hose, does it go to?

Thanks all!!

P.S. i did Turn the Petcock back to ON, so that is not it

O.k now turn it to Prime..  :D

I guess your carbs where empty when you installed them. It takes some time to fill them to the necessary level, to fire up. So turn it to PRI to do it without the need of Vacuum (= Cranking).

Also, it didn't happened to forget the petcock under the tank switched off...? (been there, done that!  :icon_lol: )

skudman

I left it on prime and cranked and cranked and cranked, till the battery was dead....seriously, how long should it take to fill the carb back up?

Paulcet

Should only take 20 seconds or less to fill the bowls.  To confirm that there is fuel in there, do the float height check with a tube connected to the drain port, and open the drain screw.  See http://www.bbburma.net/FloatHeight.htm

thanks for all the input, turns out i mixed up the hoses to the fuel valve,   :cookoo: well i got her running but barely it dies after about a minute of running, when i try to give some throttle it hesitates then dies? Float height? also what if i didn't drill out the Pilot air screw brass cover do i need to dissemble to change the float height, i didn't remove cause my bowls looked different than the picture in the "poor mans rejetting" is this what is should look like?? ---> whish brass needs to come out??

thanks all

That would not be the brass capo you want to remove it looks like someone has already removed the brass cap on your carbs.  It is the screw at the bottom of the picture.

WTF dude - That thing seems to be missing a float pin tower ...

OK never mind, your slot for the pin looks a lot shorter - I think angle of the pic.
Anyway ,that brass hole thingy on the top of the pic is the float seat - really no reason to remove it even.
The big giant brass one in the middle sitting on that hex fitting is the mains, you swap that with one in my pack that looks like it.
The one to its left is the pilot. Swap it with the pilot from what I sent you.
The lower slotted one is the mids, and we leave it be.
The lowest one in the pic that has a screwdriver slot in it is the air screw, screw it in till it seats and turn it back out 3.
Repeat for other carb.
Put gasketmaker on the bowl (very little) and use the screws I supplied and bolt it back.
Open the top, pull the retaining plug and the needle out, add a washer I provided under the E clip on the needle and put that back.
Connect up the hoses and try it.
If that is too hard for anyone, you might as well send me the carbs ... I know I know I wont take em on till maybe september ... but ... you ride till then and send it then. This is a bit too important to screw up. Recently someone put the mains I sent in place of the mids. So they had 130 mains, and 147.5 mids. talk about drowning in fuel. It started and idled great, but try to ride and it was like coughing and sputtering and dying.

That was me with that mixed up the mains and mids.  HAHA luckily i didn't actually ride it with those conditions but i learned alot from the experience and will be fixing the problem tonight.

First of all that is not my carb, I was using as an example for the brass pieces. Second the bike runs like I said I mixed up the fuel lines. all I really needed to know was how to where the screw was. thanks for jumping down my neck for trying to learn

I had the same problems after a carb strip and the K&N fitment. I fixed it by (1) priming from a gravity feed line to a dirt bike tank, not the GS gas tank and (2) double and triple checking the routing of the fuel and vacuum hoses, as there are so many of the things. It is very easy to get them switched and really infuriating when you figure it out and see what happened. The bike will start and run with the K&N off it while you are testing.
