I'm considering removing all the stock decals on my yellow '04 and replacing with reflective pinstriping and black reflective tape (kind that shows up white in headlights) in approximately the same design.

Can anyone weigh in on if the colored tapes/stickers actually work?

Has anyone done this? (i.e. good brands of reflective tape) I'm looking for better visibility at night and I don't like any of the reflective decals I've seen so far.

Thanks =D

Well just recently I redone my decals.I went to a car window sticker shop and asked them for straight black and white sheets.I was like a buck per foot.Not bad.Before 1993 gs500 had pink decal stickers on it.

So how'd it turn out? I didn't care for the pink myself either.

Did you use a vinyl cutter or what?

Any pics?

Bleh.. pink bikes...

Were they self-stick kind or did you have to use the soap/water method? What did you use to cut? Did you do a pattern first??

I've found some that I can get sheets of stuff that are "reflective" too and I figured this would be a two birds with one stone sorta deal. They require the soap/water part though and I'm not too sure about that.

Well the first thing I did was make a pattern out over the decals I wanted covered.Then i went to the sticker shop and got black and white vinyl.I also purchased a pack razors.So then i traced out my pattern. (I KIND OF CHEATED CAUSE) I left my original decals under the vinyl black stickers, because it was a pain on how to take off.The old decals just kind of cheaped away as I picked at it.But after I done the job, I heard if you use a blow dryer it might work.

I wouldn't be concerned about the soap and water part.  I have put vinyl on my cars before using the soap and water and it makes it alot easier cause it gives you the ability to slide it around if you don't get it where you want perfectly at first and allows you work out the bubbles in the vinyl.  Once the water and soap dries it will have a real good bond.  It also will prevent you from potentially stretching the vinyl if you put it down and then pull at it to try to get it to go where you want.

Thanks for the pics 909. I'm going to look into the 3M or Streetglo sheets.

Bass, the soap/water sounds fool proof when you put it like that. Very encouraging  :D

Now to pick something out!

p.s. Hey Bass, why is my bike in your profile?!?  :thumb:
