Hey friends!   In short: I'm in Western Massachusetts (Amherst/Belchertown area), and I'm trying to find a GS for $2,000 or under.

In long: I've been lurking in this forum for some time, and have gotten some really great advice from here and the related wiki.  I bought a GS500f in the fall of last year, but it met with an... unfortunate end.  I loved that bike, and I've been trying to find a nice replacement ever since.

I've checked out a bunch of bikes on Craigslist but in two cases the seller decided to keep the bike, and in another the bike wasn't quite as functional as advertised (also a lot smokier).  While a few others have popped up, the sellers seem to be asking well above a reasonable price (e.g. $2800 for a 1998: http://westernmass.craigslist.org/mcy/1171176949.html).  I'm hoping that one of my wonderful, giving, and good-looking fellow GS enthusiasts in the area might just happen to be wanting to sell, or know of someone who is.  (My mother always told me that flattery would get me everywhere  :icon_rolleyes:)

Yeah, it's spring, and spring prices are in effect. Assuming your F's unfortunate end didn't involve flames, there should be plenty of parts you can re-use on an e....or you could buy the F with the crapped out motor in Connecticut and transplant/nakiddify (or was it already nakiddified - I forget?)  He's posted on here, but also on craigs:

At least you are west. I hate the folks that post to westernmass craigslist because the Charles river is to the east of them (by....15 feet or so). Of course, you are more in the midwest and might want to note that a Worcester craigslist has popped up, though most of the folks that live there still seem to post to westernmass.

Over here in really western mass, as in most of the stuff in your area is too far for me to bother to look at, and NY is 5 miles away (less for flying crows.)

On up to maine and you get closer (low miles not too old, not too far above your price)

Take a long trip up the lake and you get real cheap, albeit in need of some work (unspecified)

Wow - thanks for doing that Craigslist legwork; I appreciate it!  I sent an email to the guy over in Albany.

I'm also looking at a Honda CM400T tomorrow (http://hartford.craigslist.org/mcy/1144626685.html).  I'm a little wary of paying $1k for a 29 year old bike though...

Don't forget to look at CL  bikes in Connecticut and R.I., I believe in the Connecticut CL listing I seen and 04' for a little over 2K, but there might be others for less. -- Jim :)

Wow, $2800 is pretty steep for an 11 y/o GS even if it is in really good condition.  Good luck :thumb:

Powdercoat bike is going on sale soon ...

1995, 10K miles and ironically other than B4 rear wheel with hanging caliper, kat shock and a slip on maybe (what I consider must have's and rather inexpensive mods), it will be all stock.

Target $ 2200, and its in NC.

This was the well preserved jetswing bike that was the model for the 89-04 body swap for se7enty7/Cheesy/Tarzan Boy's bike.
For heavily modded bikes, y'all have to wait till my next iteration ... jared bike, and then the tarzan boy bike ...

This bike really has new bearings everywhere, new fixed and re done carbs, new air filter, newly coated tank in your color choice ( original colors - blue, white and black only) and the frame and swingarm as well as many more bits have been powdercoated shiny black. The rest of the metal bits, like triples, the top plate of the dash, the rear grab bar, are all silver under candy blue.

Anyway ... just a heads up ... comming soon to a for sale section near you ...
Cool.

Thanks for the heads up, but I would contend that North Carolina isn't really near Massachusetts.  I don't think my fourth ride on a motorcycle since my MSF course really should be a shot up from NC to MA.

I was just flapping my fingers ... cos well ... ya never know ... you would anyway truck it back, no one is going to try to ride it if its more than a few 100.
