got funky fuel starvation its completly random USALY crusing at 70.  carbs are clean so im thinking its the tank vent.

were is the tank vent?

is it that little hole you can see in the top of your tank?

and is it soposed to go straight threw to the bottom of  the tank the that drain hose?
i tried to slide a riffle cleaning rod down it and it doesn't go threw is it clogged?

THanks

Tank vents through the cap. Its total BS, I have been putting a small hole in the tanks and welding a little tubing to it and it works to vent it as well as drain it 100% when you need to.

Well you can clean the cap ... maybe it got clogged up with dirt ... but other than that ... yea ... magic, grace of god, last birth's good deeds etc etc ...

The tube is the water/rain/overflowing gas drain tube.

The tank vent is nicely documented in the FAQ section by Ben2go

However, high-speed fuel starvation (which does not go on to be stuck on the side of the road for 5 minutes, in which case "5 minutes" becoming "5 seconds" if you pop the fuel cap and hear a giant sucking sound indicates the tank vent is the problem) is also commonly linked to the petcock - though I personally have never experienced a petcock problem, I don't go all that fast all that much. I do use 5/16 polyurethane fuel line. On the third hand, the upper vent hose being clogged could also contribute to that problem.

^ does it on every setting on the petcock so i kinda ruled out the petcock for now.

also it SEEMS to do it only at half tank AKA were tank vent would be needed more.

ill pull the cap now and clean it best i can

They usually are worst at full-/34 tank. But, you never know.

I wonder if us Californians actually have it better. The tank vent on a california bike is actually a tube that runs out the bottom and goes to a carbon canister. With the vent coming out of the bottom, there is no way the thing is getting clogged. It is also a much larger diameter than the tiny hole in the gas cap... Finally the California emissions control system proves it is actually good for something!

The Buddha

I thought it was for something else, and I have starved CA bike too ... Maybe you can clear it with compressed air.
