Reinstall tank fuel chicken nipple?

So I was trying to reattach my fuel lines from my tank to my petcock today, and they were being a bear.  I finally get them both on, realize I swapped the hoses, and when I try and pull my forward hose off of the tank fuel chicken, the brass nipple comes out!  Anybody had this problem before?

I'm going to try and just friction fit the nipple back in and hope it doesn't leak.  Has anybody done that before and has it worked?

Thanks.

It wants me to go brokedie.

Woah, weird. I sort of assumed they were friction fit, but I haven't ever had one come out... You'll probably be fine just pushing it back. If that doesn't work, there is always epoxy... Just use it sparingly so you don't accidentally glue the valve in one position...

lamoun

Just press it in again.
Happened to me once :D , its o.k. now.

VSG

That happened to me a few times actually.  Never got a fuel leak from it.

This is just a guess, but I'd think that the hole in the tank fuel switch (where the nipple is attached) has some sort of lip on it or is a smaller diameter after a certain point.  This would prevent you from being able to push the nipple in all the way, and combined with a tight fit, is enough to prevent leaks.

It happens....a light smear of Araladite is the answer. Let cure fully before letting fuel through it

Happened to me too ,applied a drop of loctite and pushed it back in , never came out again since

What ever you use, just a apply a tiny bit! You don't want any of it to end up in the actual lumen, as this is nearly to small for normal petrol flow already.
Also a few gentle taps with a hammer don't hurt.

Hey, thanks ya'll.

I gently tapped it back in with hammer, and got everything hooked back up.  It looks ok so far.  I guess I'll keep my eyes on it and cross my fingers.

well I tried my hardest to keep it clean, and ask with a straight face.  Since I didn't bring it up, I'm just gonna let it out...

Same problem here; I tapped it in with a plastic mallet, and no problems after about six years.
