even if this isnt attributed to limbaugh or  maybe even a myth or what not it still tends to get ones attention and make one say Hmmmm. our soldiers who served deserved more than what they have recieved or will recieve

btw god bless our men and women in uniform, in harms way or not. still willing to die for this country is quite noble

anyhoo on to the forward:

Love him or loathe him, he nailed this one right on the head..........

By Rush Limbaugh:

I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in Uniform are profound. No one is really talking about it either, because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I can't let the numbers pass by
because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of
this country. If you lost a family member in the September 11 attack, you're
going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of
$250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.?
If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action,
the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.

Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get
$833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a
screeching halt.

Keep in mind that some of the people who are getting an average of $1.185 million up  to  $4.7 million are complaining
that it's not enough.?Their deaths were tragic, but for most, they were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.?
Soldiers put themselves in harms way FOR ALL OF US, and they and their families know the dangers. (Actually, soldiers are put in harms way by politicians and commanding
officers.)

We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have
started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11 families
are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the
embassies are now asking for compensation as well.

You see where e this is going, don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over 50 years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad. Every time a pay raise comes up for the military, they usually receive next to
nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in lo w-rent housing.?Make sense?

However, our own US Congress voted themselves a raise. Many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month.. And most are now equal to being millionaires plus. They do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system.. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an
E-7, they may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who
placed them in harm's way receives a pension of $15,000 per month.
< BR>

I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now  fighting.

Not saying that troops dont deserve a bit more but... THEY SIGNED UP FOR IT! Thats the difference.

If there was a draft I could see things a bit different but there isnt... You choose to join the Military. I did my 4 years and went over seas and had no complaints. I had no bills, got paid well, fed well and got everything I needed from the USAF.  I made over 20K TAX FREE in about 6 months! I always get a bit pissed when I see the fund raisers or "send crap to the troops"... They get PAID! They dont need care packages! Even if you feel you are doing good contributing to these things about 80% of the troops dont get your packages anyway! When they do they often give the items to Iraqi/Afghan children or needy familys... Is that where you want your "care packages" to go?

Also, most of the dollar amounts in that letter are BS! If you are KIA your family gets MUCH more than 100G's and life insurance, social security, health bennies etc... There is far to much attention given to the "heros" that are fighting overseas. Its a job! They chose to be there! no one forced them to sign up.

Ask most anyone who served, they will be on the same page. Its people who didnt serve that feel the need to contribute by sending boxes of crap to service men/women. If you really want to help, help a VET! Volunteer at the local VA or VA hospital...

i'd like to see references, it seems to me someone could have pulled a few of those numbers our their butts. i'm always a little skeptical of forward emails, they're usually filled with percentages and numbers and things that are mostly made up...

+1 to what scottPA_GS said ...

But also +1 to the sense of entitlement that seems inherent in the baby boom and Gen X when veiwed as a collective ...

They seem to think ... I went to college, so I need to get a 100K a yr job ... uhhh ... sorry, you studied medeival history cos you were too stupid to study much else, and you dont deserve nothing but the loading dock job you got. In fact we think you may be too stupid and over qualified for it at the same time. (BTW this was a story I read a few weeks ago about some 30 year old who got 35K debt and working at a loading dock has an ex con co worker who got no debt and some fork lift driving skills he learned in jail ... sorry pal we need fork lift drivers in any economy - prolly over 2-300K of them per year, and we dont need the 100K history grads that come through in CA alone per year)

BTW who is paying the 9/11 victims, their own insurance policies, cos all the ones in the towers were 'employees of some corporation" and they carry pretty tidy coverage usually starting @4-5 X annual pay free and more if the employee pays for em.

Cool.

scott, ill take what you said as your opinion. but I've lost relatives BOTH in 911 as well as in the service. I am the son of and a brother of a vet. so I DO know how it feels to receive those boxes of crap while in harms way. I've got a small stack of letters from many greatful soldiers/heroes. they deserve A LOT more than they get. I also volunteer most of my free time at va and places like this and have with the PGR. attended many services. they deserve a lot more than they currently get.. and by my hand will continue to get the boxes of crap until their safe return :thumb:

I'd have to say that is also true for many of the Civil Services. I still can't comprehend why an EMT gets $8 an hour when a basketball player gets $8mil a year! We have our priorities in the wrong place! Hopefully, you won't call on Lebron when you have an MI!

don't hate the soldiers, hate the politicians who put them there. the soldiers are just doing their jobs. all those who serve our country are heroes. it makes me sick that people have no respect for our military just because they don't agree with the war. f%$king ignorant bastards. our soldiers give you the right to complain about the wars. show some f%$king respect! on that note, another shot of tequila is in order. i'll raise my glass this time in salute to our troops.
