Hello,

I'm looking at putting on the Jardine system on my 08 gs 500, I'm also thinking while I'm at it I should install a different air intake system as long as I have to rejet anyway! My first question is what type of air intake should I install, I would think it would be K&N filters right? Is that what is the lunchbox system? Where can I get it at the best price? And last the Question every jeter wants to know is what jets should I put in to start with to be safe? Jardine full system and K&N filters or whatever system I should install.  Buddha gave me some specs for a jardane system with no air filter upgrade, but why not upgrade the filter system if installing the Jardine? Oh yea I live in MN 850 Feet above sea level for jet specs. If anyone can help me I would be grateful as I have never done this on a Motorcycle only my ATV so I'm a little nervous. :o

I would upgrade to a lunch box as well.. I cant think of the site that was the cheapest but they can be had new for less than $35

check the WiKi for more info. It has a great chart for jeting

~ 1990 GS500E Project bike ~ Frame up restoration ~ Yosh exhaust, 89 clipons, ...more to come...

~ 98 Shadow ACE 750 ~ Black Straight Pipes ~ UNI Filter ~ Dyno Jet Stage 1 ~ Sissy Bar ~

I think the lunchbox is a great value, I have an 08 gs will the size listed on wiki work on mine?

I think I'm answering my own questions!  :cookoo:

Looks like this is my prescription
Pilot 22.5
Mid-main 65
Main 147.5
Washers 3 (M3/3 mm, not #4)
Turns out 2.5
People 1
Full Jardine exhaust
FINALLY... took EIGHT tries to
Perfect, but it was worth it. Sweet.

I still need to know about that lunchbox if the one on Wiki will work on a 08!   Thanks this site is great!     Are these the right part numbers for the jets? MAIN AND MID N102.221  Pilot N224.103

I have an 08 GS, twin K&N and full F1 exhaust. I tried 22.5, 65, 147.5 and it was WAY too rich.

I'm now running 20, 62.5, 142.5 and it's perfect for me and the way I ride.

Ok So I orderd the Lunchbox :D should i worry about water geting up in there if it rains? I would think it is covered up well up in there :dunno_white: Also i'm going to order the jardine pipe tonight and jets should i go with these jets

OR

20, 62.5, 142.5

The jet size i'm not so sure about all I want is for it to run good if it is a tad rich I guess thats O.K. I would think that the first jets listed are the way to go per the list in wiki I'M just worried that I'm going to buy jets and it's going to run bad. Let me know!

Every bike will react differently, and what one person thinks is the right jetting for their bike another person might not.

With the 22.5, 65, 147.5 mine would flood with fuel at full throttle. I can't see any need for a 22.5 at idle, 20 is more than enough.

The reailty is it's unlikely it will be spot on after just one jetting. Personally if I was you I'd first try 20, 62.5, 145. Mine may be a touch on the lean side but it's not too lean. Have checked plugs and local Suzuki mechanic though it was spot on after a test ride.

If I could be bothered I'd try the 65 mains with the 20, 142.5 to see if it makes any difference. Maybe I will some time.

A lot of people say after rejetting they are using heaps more fuel - I don't believe you should be unless you have over jetted and are running rich. I get the same economy as I did when stock.

What did you do with the washers and # of turns out?

No washers, 3 turns out, or maybe 3.5, can't remember now.

When you say no washer, does that mean you left it stock?

That's right - I only changed the 3 jets, didn't do anything else apart from externally - 3 turns out on idle screws and adjusted idle speed so it would idle cold at 900-1000 rpm with no choke. I don't use choke at all now even when it's 0 celcius. Idles around 1400 rpm when hot.

I have a full jardine and lunchbox filter on an 04 and am still working on getting the jetting right.  I have 20 pilots, 60 mids and 147.5 mains with 2 washers now and it is still really lean.  I have a set of 65 mids that i am about to put in this week and hope that will get the bike running right.  Don't know how many turns yet.  Like said before though each person will think slightly different for which settings are perfect.  Don't expect to get it right the first try but the process of switching stuff out in the carbs gets alot quicker the more times you do it.  Just make sure you remember where everything goes.

So would it be safe to say if I just put in 20, 62.5, 145 that would be a safe place to start? :dunno_white: Keep the washers stock? I orderd the Jardine, and lunchbox filter :D Any options would be great I love Help!  :D :D

bassmechanicsz

I would probably start with the 147.5 for mains since everyone i have come across has agreed that is what the main should be.  The mids are what people tend to have a difference of opinions on.

I have a lunchbox + jardine

I did 20 65 145

no washers and no other adjustments to the carbs what so ever apart from increasing the idle a touch

Runs great
