CRF 250 petcock fuel line question

Hi folks,

I'm going to be installing the Honda petcock from a CRF250x as has been mentioned in countless threads as a solution to fuel starvation. I've had the same symptoms as a number of people on this board where my bike will ride along fine and cut out when at high speeds on the highway. I've cleaned out the fuel cap and that hasn't eliminated the problem.

So I'm decided on the install, but I had questions about the fuel lines. What fuel lines do I need to order to complete the job? Will I even need to replace the ones I have (i'm assuming better safe than sorry here)? Is there any sort of diameter change between petcocks? Any help would be appreciated. I just can't seem to find a walkthrough by searching the forums and the wiki only mentions the Pingel.

I did the conversion with the CRF450 petcock.  Bought 3' of 5/16  clear polyurethane fuel line from Cycle Gear for $7.  Cut to fit.

Thanks a lot. Any particular benefits from using a CRF450 vs a CRF250? Is either just plug and play?

I haven't looked at the 250 petcock.  The one I got has ON/OFF/RESERVE.  The routing is a little different.  There are 3 nipples, two close together and one by itself to the far right.  That one gets routed to the carb.  The two that are together go to the tank.

Good luck.

the 250 must be similar.  it just has the 3 nipples - 2 from the tank for 'on' and 'res' and 1 out to the carb.  I'm not sure why you would choose one over the other is both work other than price.
