So i've got most of my things that I wanted to do to my bike done, and now its burning a bit of oil.  I was thinking of streetfightering this thing and taking off the whole rear tail section and taking away the birds nest of wires and hiding them and just leaving the support bars out.  I could also go the opposite route and do a full fairing setup or something of that nature.  Or just sell it and pay off some credit card debt.  Whaddaya think??

In this economy I'd sell it and get out of debt. Of course, I'm old fashioned that way...

Put your gear on, duct tape a bunch of pillows to yourself and DRIVE IT OFF A DOCK!!!!!!!

Seriously, you haven't lived until you've driven into a large body of water at 45mph.

How does reworking the tail fix the burning oil issue?

bombadillo

It doesn't but i'm ready for a change on it.  I may end up rebuilding the motor though if I like the rest of her.  I just said its burning oil because its getting more miles on it and burning about a third of a quart every 3-500 miles or so.

This engine tends to burn oil.  I wouldn't worry so much about it.  to fix it, you will have to rebuild the bottom half, and even then, it will be a temporary fix.

The Buddha

I ran mine till it did a quart in 300 miles, and these were commute mines not sustained high rev, long road miles either.
A qt in 1000-1500 - yea, the good old days. But, mine never smoked. Never ...

If I had another bike and felt I don't need this one, I'd sell and pay bills.  If I didn't have another bike and if selling means I'd be driving a car, I'd keep her.  You would save money on the gas compared to a car even with the oil issue.  If money was an issue, postpone the upgrades.
