I just got a 2008 GS500F and I was wondering if anyone knew of any websites where I can get aftermarket parts for it. Or if anyone knows of any ways to make it more appealing to the eye!

Wow, one whole post and you've already managed to insult half the site by calling their beloved motorcycle ugly.

:icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

The "for sale" area has some things and a few members custom make parts but there isn't much after market support for this bike. Not like 600cc sport bikes or Harleys anyway.

Yeah, the aftermarket for these bikes is really lame.  There's not much at all that you can buy as far as direct bolt on stuff.  Most mods will require a bit of research and some decent mechanical abilities

if you didn't like the look of the bike why did you buy it?? just curious.

I never meant to infer that it was a "ugly" bike. Its a beautiful bike, which is the reason i bought it! I meant to say that i want it to stand out from all the other bikes out there

First things first though, get new front springs for your forks and maybe even a katana rear shock.  I didnt at first but its an inexpensive mod that will feel much much better.  At first you wont really notice that the front dives to much, well at least I didnt, it was the first bike I actually rode.  After a few monthsand concentration you will be able to notice the front diving a bit, and if you have a passenger on then she will slide foward causing you to knock your nuts against the tank.  Yeah, it is that soft lol.  So get some new springs.  I went with sonic because they were less expensive and actually arrived a day later, well technically two days.  And actually, the kat rear shock I would wait on till you get comy with your bike.  The rear will sage when you get on it, and if you have a passenger on it it will be really bad, but you can adjust the shock to a stiffer position for now.  The reason I say wait on the kat shock is because it will raise the rear up a little and if your not tall or dont have a leg inseam longer than 30 in then you wont be able to get the balls of your feet on the ground, and that is a little uncomfortable if your just starting out IMO.

also. This bike is a more Do it Yourself modification. So it will very much look like your own bike and none other. The more time you spend on it the more you will customize it to your liking.  Its really easy to work with. Congrats on the new bike.

If you are begginer. Then just do stickers and lights modification. Those are easy. Though LED modification has cause a few people here some pains. So read up if you want to go LED on the brakes or turn signal.

Most things out there will fit your bike one way or another but is not bolt on. you will quickly learn from all the post.. 99% of cosmetic stuff you have to modify in a small way to make it work on this bike. the gswiki gives you all the info.

As posted by Joker, once you are comfy with your bike as is and want more umph from it... i would go with front fork . i recomment sonic as well.  iam 170lb and went with .90. You WILL NEED to change your fork oil to 15w or you wont really notice any difference.

A sprocket change.  A handlebar change.  And rejeting.  ALL will make your bike FEEL faster.  well not the handlebar.. but handlebar makes it sportier type. thus feel faster.

As for the rear suspension, i ended up just tighteing mine up and i am happy with it.  I have a GSXR from Buddha thats just sitting here in case i turn this baby into a track bike.

Thanks everyone for the info. This is my first bike so i'm pretty much the average n00b on the block. When I first saw the bike i knew it was gonna be a great starter bike. I was thinking about changing the stock handlebars to some sv650 bars to give it a more edgier look. Also the flush mount turn signals would be a plus. Anyways I look forward to askin alot of questions and getting alot of support from everyone! Thanks again

Ok, so I have had my 08 GS500F for a while and i'm lovin her. She has been extremely kind to me. I layed her down on her left side some time ago. Slowly but surely she is gettin back in shape. I had to replace bar end, bent handle bar, clutch lever and mirror. I still need the left side middle fairing. The turn signals are still in good shape aside from some serious scratches. I want to either replace them with OEM ones or find some good lookin ones. Anyone know where i can find a leftside middle fairing for a good price?
