It looks like the most recent time this was covered was in 2004, ( http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=9733.0 )

I was curious what are people current favorite places to buy things online. I'm trying to get my bike back together, so I looked around and found someone who was selling the GS oil filter with the o-ring for a half decent price, so I ordered it, then this morning I got an email that said it was out of stock and would ship in 5-7 days. I could deal with that since that's how long it will take to seal my tank anyway. I erased it and went on with my life, then I got another that said it would ship in 10-14 days! that's too long for a $5 oil filter. Curious what other places you guys recommend. Are the ones in the old post still the current best choices?

Pep boys didn't have one, and there aren't any motorcycle shops within a respectable distance of me. When I have the bike running I'll have no problem riding an hour to a good shop for a 4 dollar part for ongoing maintenance, but until I get it running I need to find somewhere else that will deliver.

yeah those are all still current it looks like.  I know the Autozone by my house says they can get any part for the GS but they need to know a part number since their computer system doesn't have the motorcycle database in it.  I am also lucky enough to have a decent shop for getting parts at 5 minutes away from my house.

i just got some jets & a k&n for my bike from http://www.powersportsuperstore.com .
it's a little hard to navigate their site to find what you want, but the online help is great.

When I last rode, I lived at my parents house and had a good shop 5 minutes away as well, now I don't think there's any closer than 30-45 minutes by car, in areas I've never really been. No big deal when I have the bike working, but I hate to pile in the car and drive all the way out there for a stupid part. There is an autozone not too far, maybe I'll try there after work before I order another one. I just canceled my order with the first place.

Getting the bike inspected is going to be a hassle too. Obviously by that point it will be running, but not legal to ride on the road. There's one place about 2 blocks over, and 6 blocks down that's mostly a harley/custom shop, but I'm hoping they'd inspect my bike if I just cut back streets to get there. If a cop catches me in the 2 minutes I'll be on the road. I'll just walk it the rest of the way. It's all downhill anyway.

I have 2 suzuki dealers within 15 minutes. And they are cheaper than online plus shipping for common stuff.

Johnstown huh? You're not far from me as it is. About an hour and a half if I remember right, although I haven't been there since the flood museum field trip in 5th grade.

You guys have any GS oil filters and O-rings in stock? I don't even mind paying shipping since I'd have to do that online anyway.
