I'm looking to replace this as mine is all scratched up from the previous owner:

I'm not sure what it's called, but I would like to find one... possibly if someone has a spare engine laying around they're using for parts or something.  If you need to, i can trade mine.

I have made some in the past. It had a 3 angle job on it not a smooth curve. It looked well ... different, and a tad "boxy" The center - ~ 1 inch dia was flat, the next 1" was ~10-12 degrees, then was a 20-25 degree then came a 30-35 degree ... before the last 1 inch that was 45 degrees or so before it dropped to the edge. No other way to describe it, there were a few dozen I made and sold in the 04-05 time frame. Problem was ... I sold the 2 bikes I fitted them to as well ... so I prolly dont even have pics. But if anyone got em please put up a pic.

And sorry no logo, its never gonna look anything like it came from suzuki. It also isn't very pretty or polished. In fact that last set I had had tool marks still visible up close. I really dont do pretty, it looks good, the same way a giant CNC machine looks cool.

You know what would be cool, I think someone could machine one up a little thicker with a blank center, recess the center, then tap some screw holes in the middle to screw in a poly or nylon puck to cushion and slide a little better, since the options for sliders are limited. You could even cut the logo into the puck so it doesnt look too plain. It would probably look great till the first time you drop it. but then since its tapped for screws you could replace the puck instead of the entire cover.....

I like that idea a lot

Naaa - you just need to only make right handed turns and only low side, never highside ... yea ...

Oh yes, frame sliders bolted to the engine = bad idea ... plastic will melt. Done, ruins both the slider and the engine. Prolly will get a molten mass on your foot and scorch that too ... booya, triple whammy.
Cool.

You cant possibly be serious? The all mighty buddha backing down from a challenge. Cant cast some aluminum or have someone to do that or even modify an existing left side cover... hmmmm... That doesnt sound like you buddha...  :icon_lol: Just messin with ya. But if your seriously up to the challenge let me know.. lol

Bikebandit.com has the OEM cover and emblem for a total of $42.65.  I need one too (from this fall: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=47794.msg537115), so I might just spring for it...

here's 3" diameter, 1" thick teflon (PTFE) pucks from McMaster Carr with a melting temp of 500F for $16ea:

http://www.mcmaster.com/#1396t12/=2k2ev8

You could drill a recessed hole in the middle to mount it to those covers...
They have plenty of other sizes too, that was just a guess at the right size    :whisper: ;)

The Buddha

Oh OK - I would fit it to the case guards which I am yet to make.
So easy, imaginary case guards take the slider pucks.
Anyway I am getting the case guards made. I would check into the possiblity of drilling them for a puck, but see, what about the left side.
Cool.

Why couldnt you simply make them fit a three bar case guard.. Quick edit.... to follow..  Just weld ina flat circular plate on the back side drill and tap some holes put some holes in the pucks and throw them on there? And possibly the same type thing once you figure out how to do them for the F.... sorry dont have a ready pic of the left side to modify...
