Found what I believe to be a really good deal on a good gun.

What do you think? and which one should I get?

I am leaning towards the .45 for stopping power but 9mm ammo is so much cheaper for fun at the range.

Depends on what you want it for.  If you're going for a manstopper, not much beats the .45acp.  There is a ton of aftermarket support for either gun but for ease of target shooting and practice, i'd go 9mm.  If you're looking for a home defense setup, that with a TLR-1 light will be a great combo.  I have the XD9SC and its a great little piece.  Built like a tank and goes bang every time.  It outshoots my .45 all day long at 25 yards with a 3" barrel vs a 5"  so go figure.  Maybe its the recoil anticipation, maybe its a better gun.  The extras help make it worthwhile and check with springfield because they usually have a program where they give 2 extra mags and a mag holster in a springfield box for free as a gift for purchasing their guns.  Good luck with whatever you decide on.

I've fired an XD9 and 45 and wasn't really impressed with either.  They just don't live up to the Springfield name IMO.  Look at Commander and Officer size RIA 1911's (come from the factory with a trigger pull as smooth as kimber), FNP45's.

you should get the kind that go on the top of your vehicle...those are the best.

If you are looking to get a gun to just blast away at a range, you might look into getting a smaller caliber-even cheaper ammo. My family has 3 .22's, tons of fun.

I owned a XDM 9mm and it was a wonderful gun.  Unfortunately I had to get rid of it this past week b/c of the stupid motorcycle.  With that said, I would go with the XD.45.  Springfield makes a wonderful gun.  You may even want to check out the XDM .40 S&W.

I second the .40 Cal for three reasons and after you shoot one you will agree.

1. The 9MM is known for accuracy and range over the .45 and the .40 has both

2. The .45 was adopted by the military years ago while fighting in the Philippines for it's ability to stop drugged up indigenous fighters. The .40 still has that.

3. And probably most importantly a .40 will not travel through lightly clad buildings like a 9MM will. This is kind of important for home defense. Don't want to hit your family when you are shooting at a assailant!

Most, not all, Law enforcement and especially the QRF teams are all adopting the .40 and the 96FS Beretta which I personally own is the most preferred.
