i currently have a 2007 gs500f i live in brick nj at about sea level.  i am going to install the k&n lunchbox ru-2970 and have a yosh trs slip-on.
the wiki says a coonservative starting point is 20/65/145. are there ant suggestions anybody can make that will be the ideal jetting for this combo? have no experience with jetting any sort of carb, i am mechanically inclined.

I am running 20/65/147.5 and also live in new jersey and everything is working great.  I have a K&N lunchbox and jardine full system.  So i would suggest getting the 147.5 main instead of the 145 since it seems like most aftermarket pipes use the same jetting.

i have been searching as much as i can and it seems that people with the full jardine system seem to be going with the 147.5.  is that becuase the headers are changed on that system as well? i still have the stock headers and a slip-on jsut trying to get all the help i can becuse i do'nt really feel like doing this twice lol.

well the jardine is a full system which might make a slight difference but i don't know.  I started with the 147.5 main as Buddha recommended and haven't had any problems.

OK great - you are running 65 mids - finally - and you like that over the 60's ?
Cool.

I run 20 - 65 - 145 and I like them.

147.5's are probably better for performance but I was looking at keeping some economy for the long trips I do.

wladziu

How do you guys run those 147.5's?

I'm going down to 135s today, with the K-N and yosh.

Thanks bassmechanicz.

galahs:- Dont do that, it will run hotter. Besides you wont be making any better economy if you're lean surging or misfiring on opening the throttle. Jetting is not an alternative to gas consumption. It has to run right before it will run with less gas.

Also, In summer you may get away with 145, but winter you may need 147.5. So if you're running 145, a swap in winter may be in the cards.
Better gas mileage can be acheived with a clean running bike and going to a taller gearing.
Or - dont do K&N filter, stay stock - and you can do +1 jetting.

Either case - I sell a pack - $33 shipped with the mids, for either set up. $25 with out mids. Washers have been fine in some people's cases, only bassmechanicz has used both 60 and 65 mids and posted back.

yeah i had tried the 60 mids with 2 washers under the needles and the bike was still running very lean but now with the 65 mids and no washers it is running very close to spot on perfect.
