I stripped the top right nut on the oil cap. I think there's something On Pablo's page about this. Just wanted to share my frustration.

I came close to doing the same on my last oil change. The o-ring came loose and got pinched. It kept leaking but I could tell I was close to snapping it. So I  backed off to check the o-ring.I had completly ruined the new o-ring and had to use the old one.

I managed to strip one of the upper nuts on the filter cover when I did the first oil change on my gs450, but thankfully I stripped the nut and not the stud.  The nuts on the 450 and the 500 are metric 6X1 and dirt cheap to buy.  I bought a standart nut, it doesn;t look as pretty, but I really don't care, it keeps the oil in the engine.  I did some thinking, and in my opinion, if I did strip a stud, I would take all three out, put in helicoil inserts, and use allen bolts.  I just hope I never come to that.  One leak down, now I need to fix the leak at the shiftrod.
