Hey guys, I just rode my 2007 GS500f home from the dealer. It is awesome! I love it already. It was sweet how I got home. 2 of my friends basically escorted me to three different stops where I practiced most of the skills from the MSF course at each stop. It felt amazing riding with the wind and how the it blows through the helmet. I can't wait to ride some more!!!

thanks guys. there are awesome roads here in CT. I do try to ride like im invisible and its been going good so far. The part of CT im from is I think pretty rider friendly. There are rows of motorcycles where i work and you occasionally see the hardcore ones still ride in the rain to work. But yea.....it has been an awesome 3 weeks so far.

I did my first noticeable mistake today. I was going down an hills shaped like an "S" with a pretty good decline. I was braking and down shifted a gear at the top just before I dropped in to curve but the engine speed was faster than the tires so when i let go of the clutch, the back wheel gave a little jerk. The worst part was that i was going straight (wheels werent aligned) and it kinda wobbled for a bit, but it turned out ok. Glad that happened so I can learn from it.

I'm looking to buy boots also. Anyone have any suggestions of what kind and where to buy? I will do a search as soon as I post this, but I wanted to know your opinions, for the ppl that have responded to my post.

I used to have a pair of Sidi's and I loved them. I'll probably stick with them for the rest of my life. I'm a big fan of their cycling shoes as well, they just fit my feet perfectly. My recommendation is to go to a dealership and try some on, find out what brand and size fits, and then just find something on ebay. Motorcycle boots don't get too worn down considering they spend 95% of their life sitting on motorcycle pegs, or on the ground at redlights. If you're ever going to be out in questionable weather I highly recommend finding some that are waterproof as well. The sidi's I had were $180 new on sale, and they sold for $40 on ebay in great condition, it broke my heart, and I wish I still had them. Mine were waterproof, I believe the model was called Strada. They didn't have a ton of extra bolt on plates, but who needs them. They were stiff so braking and shifting felt a ton better, and they would've only ever had to survive through one crash.

I second the Sidi recommendation.  Luckily for you there are plenty of dealers in that region of the country (particularly the NYC area).  I would follow tt's advice to the letter, but definitely try some on, because they are European sized and not all models fit equally well.  For example the Vertigo (and I would assume the newer boots as well) have adjustable calf sizes which can make quite a difference (esp. if you have abnormally large or small calf muscles).
