2004 Fairing fit on an '89?

Went to the Cycle World Show here in Winnipeg today... very disappointed... so many 2004s missing... including the GS500F.

Anyways... instead of me dropping $6700 +tax CDN on a new GS, I was wondering if I could buy the fairing from Suzuki and somehow bolt it onto my '89.  Was going to have a look at the show, but it wasn't there and nobody there knew.
I broke it... I bought it...

are you considering only buying the fairing off the new gs500f or some other fairing?

there are some nice fairings you can buy or you could buy part by part off of ebay and make it work yourself....

the problem is, i don't think suzuki dealer or anyone else (other then people buying gs500f and don't want the faring so they sell it to you) could sell just the fairing

The local dealer doesn't have a '04 in stock, and possibly has never sold the GS (he also sells Kaw, and the EX fills that price point).  I hope to attend the Chicago bike show next weekend >>weather permitting<<.  I don't have a digicam, so I'll try to commit it to memory and get back to you.  I think Joris's GS site has extensive photos of the '04, and you might get an idea from that.  A dealer should be able to order the bodywork, but be prepared to pay big $$ for all the hardware.  After market would probably be cheaper.

that's what i was thinking....just buy the fairing james makes and drill a hole for the headlight and you are all set....

james g, do you still make those solo tail's? i want to buy one but in summer because i don't have lots of money now...

Anyone have a pic handy... or can direct me to a pic of JamesG's fairing?

I'm liking that GS500R fairing from Brazil, but Fox is saying that it's a very difficult install (I have patience though), and it's very brittle.

Just checkin my options... thanks everyone.

Greg & I got a look at the new 2004 GS and I recall a few of the mounting brackets required some holes/slots in the frame alongside the tank.  The frame is a bit different on the 2002 & newer GS500's, so there may not be a good fit between the frame & the fairing on older models.  I didn't look at the bottom of the frame to see how the fairing is mounted.
If the fairing is available from Suzuki, it would probably be outrageously expensive.  Wasn't the older factory flyscreen something like $350-450 through dealers? :o
