I'm wondering - if I find that one cylinder is lean and the other is rich, is this generally from out of synch carbs?

I know that the carb settings are all the same (pilot screws, needle setting, main jets...).

Thanks.

Rich and lean at what throttle opening? At WOT, where you usually do a plug reading, differences would likely indicate radically different float levels, or a partially plugged jet.

If you have one dark plug from idiling/low throttle openings, it could be carb balance, differences in the idle screw (setting them at the same turns out doesn't necessarily mean they are both flowing the same), different float levels, or again something partially blocked.
