I am finally going to sell a bike I bought new in 1990.  I rode her a few short times and then I was crushed in an accident. Not with the bike!  My pelvis was crushed by heavy equipment.  I kept the bike all these years hoping to return to riding some day.  I guess I am not going to be "in the wind" again.

I decided to replace everything that might have dried out or gone bad all these years in storage.  There are new tires, brakes, seals, fuel lines and all new liquids.  There are a few scratches and small dings from bumps during moving around and in and out of storage.  I contacted my ex to get my title from the old file box and she had this kind reply  

So, I had to get a 2008 title through the local DFA Office.  That ment all the stickers and logos had to be removed so the state could call it a "custom AV" bike.                                                             I am sure you can find the replacement decals somewhere.

You can ride this one home with no problems.  I am going to attempt to post pics.
The First 2,000.00 takes it home, or whoever comes closest the fastest.

No Doubt! What a nice looking bike, wish I had the extra cash to take it off of your hands. I imagine you'll sell pretty quickly as it's still riding season for a few months here in Missouri.

Why?
That makes no sense at all.
And how did you get the decals off the tank?
I thought they are under the clearcoat. They certainly are on my 1991 GS500E.
Something just doesn't sound right to me.
Can you give us more details?

   I see you are from PA.  A much more progressive and modern state than Arkansas I am sure.  Each state has it's own different laws concerning motorcycles, boats, trailers and anything non-vehicle.
For example, here in Arkansas you can purchase a factory made trailer, go to the DFA, tell them you made it yourself and get a title without paying sales taxes on the trailer purchase, in addition, they will send you a VIN tag to place on your home-made trailer along with your new permanent, non-expiring tags that you can move from trailer to trailer along with the VIN tag.
     It is not the right thing to do, but it happens all the time.
Quite a few folks here build cars, trucks, bikes, ATV's and boats from other stuff that has no title.  So the state makes it easier to get what is called an AV custom title.  AV stands for "assembled vehicle".
So, we get to build 4X4's from everything from old school busses to grandma's washing machine and still get a title and tags so we can drive them to the "hoe downs" on Saturday nights down in the holler by the crick and drink all that moodshine us hillbillies have in our backyard stills.  I just love being judged by where I am from.

You guys get to drive quads on the road? I always thought that would make an awesome winter alternative to a motorcycle, but PA doesn't go for it.

Many states including CA have that assembled vehicle clause. However I think if they see a vin # on it, they will raise hell in CA atleast.
Decals - they dont care, you say you got the tank from so and so off such vehicle or show a ebay receipt or say it was from a older vehicle I had. You just need to CYA for "major components" though you can show @ the inspection place without a tank ... with the bike on a trailer/truck.
I one saw a cherry radian that was that way.
I wish NC did somehting like this, I'd register my E250 van/trailer ...

hey guys.  I will try to answer all the questions.  Getting the decals off proved to be alot easier than I thought it would be.  I fully expected them to be under the clearcoat too.  I just carefully put the edge of an exacto knife under the edge and each letter come right up.  No damage to the surrounding clear at all.  It did leave a small "ledge" where the letter rested.  There is clear coat under the letters, but none on top.   "Wierd."

According to county law, we can drive a quad on a public road if it is the, "most direct route" to another piece of property you own, lease or are doing maintenance on.  Trust me everybody stretches that defination quite a bit.   

The state revenue office issued me a new VIN and had me "destroy" the old number on the frame.  Can you believe it?!   
I was then issued a new VIN and an engraved plate to place on the frame over the old number.  The State Police then verified the new number, and I got my brand new title in the mail 2 days later.
I was surprised by the entire process.  It was probably done this way because I still had the original sales receipt from the dealer in Arlington, when I first purchased the bike.  So proof of original ownership was not a big deal.
BY THE WAY, Whomever buys the bike also gets the original owners manual, a new full-face Fulmer helmet(black), and yes, the tool kit is still under the seat as well.

I truley hope that one of yu can give her the home she deserves.  She was born to run and has never had the chance.

Thanks for all the positive comments.  I had hoped someone here would be able to buy her and give her the loving home she needs.  You know.  RIDE THE HELL OUT OF IT!!!!   

Just a side note,  I am willing to take weapons in on trade for the bike.  Long guns are ok, revolvers are my favorite, Smith and Wesson is perfect.  Anyway, just a thought in case someone is a little short of cash but would like to make a deal.  I love to trade.   

I am going to wait a little while longer before I do the unthinkable and post it on Ebay.
