That thing looks awesome, I love cafe racers. I've got a current short term plan to grab something small, like a cb125 or a cb175 just for rides inside the city, and I want to make a little cafe racer out of it.

I think they might have better luck making a kit more a long the lines of a street legal sportbike though, who's to say that everyone looking to convert a crf450 wants a cafe racer, not to mention you can get a perfectly good cb450 for well under a grand, you'd be paying more than what it would cost you to get the real deal.

I am going to do an XS 650 that way though ... or may chicken out and hock it for some food ...
Cool.

one of the faculty that I occationally find myself on a ride with rides a BMW1100 that he has turned cafe.  Looks a hell of a lot better without all the giant farings on it.

Yeah, most bikes with fairings have them to make the bike aerodynamic, BMW only has them so people know it's a BMW, so I'll bet it definitely looks better without.

I see some come across craigslist here fairly often enough, I just have to get the GS insured and inspected, pull my wifes moped apart so we can clean the rust out of the tank (The tank is in the frame, buell style, which requires the entire bike be stripped down to clean it out  ), then I can start looking for another bike. I've actually started to think I won't mind a kick start.
