My GS is dripping oil out of the right hand side gear cover, the cover where you pure the oil into.I have a new gasket to replace it.I undid all the bolts, removed the Suzuki badge cover and that is as far as I could get.I'm not 100% sure, but I think it is the timing rotar in the way.Does anyone out there know how how to get the rotar off so I can get the cover off to put the new gasket on???

usually a good swat with a rubber end of a hammer or a rummer mallet will get it lose.  im not saying beat on it but usually a few good swats will brake it lose.  its just stuck do to heat cycle after heat cycle on the motor the gasket actually glues its self to both the cover and the crank case itself.

If I remember right...

the rotor is held on with a single 10 mm bolt.  Use a 19mm wrench to hold the rotor still while you unscrew the 10mm bolt in the center.  Then simply pull the rotor off.  You don't have to mark it or anything since it only goes on and off one way.  Don't forget loctite when you put it on.

There are 2 phillips screws for the pickup thing around the rotor you might have to remove to swing it out of the way.  There are are 2 more cover bolts in that area that have to be removed as well.

You might have to remove the oil sending thingee as well.  It just unscrews with a big socket.  Use a tiny bit of teflon tape or paste when you put it back in.

My 90 GS500E has spread itself across the nation.

Thanks guys!Yes it is the 10mm bolt in the centre of the rotor.Once I got that off,the rotor fell off and the cover came off without a problem. But getting the old paper gasket off the cover is another story!!!
