Speeding bikers beat the cameras

I'm not a fan of the cameras personnally. But, what I do hate which happened to me on Thursday. I was riding my bike to my friend's house to watch some football. It is also the local bike night at Old Town. I look back red and blues WTF I'm going under the speed limit! So, I sit  and wait for him to walk up all of a sudden I see another officer with hand on holster. I'm a little concerned at that point WTF did I do keeps running through my mind.

First officer made contact I ask "What seems to be the problem officer" "We are pulling over every motorcycle tonight! Is your bike stolen?" "Uhm, no!' " license and registration" "ok just gotta get the registration from under the seat" "Keep your hands in View!' "Where you coming from? where you going? Have you had anything to drink?" Meanwhile other cop is running my registration and license. Then he had the gaul to tell me Florida didn't have handicapped plates for motorcycles! At this point i'm getting kinda shaken a female on the side of the dark side of the road being treated as a criminal by two bully cops. Finally they give my license and registration back and the other cop tells me that since my low jack was installed at CFPS that it is no good because they are the only one that installs them and a lot of bikes with lojack have been stolen so it Must be one of their employees. That ticked me off because the dealership has been more than helpful with me. They jump in their cars and peel off leaving me a female with no lights on on a dark busy road. I got flustered and guess missed my pocket so my wallet is also gone!

Next morning I try to report my missing wallet to the police department. They told me if I did that that it would be equivalent to me calling the officer a theif and that was a falony! I asked for the officers name to see if maybe just maybe he had seen the wallet later that night. The counter officer gave me the report after trying to locate it for an hour. on the report it stated that I had made an unsafe lane change and it was on a two lane road how can I do an unsafe lane change ?!?!? Then they said my bike was grey as my avatar shows I ride a blue bike.

Sorry bout the thread jack I just need to vent!

that bar code idea sounds logical. and tampering with it should be the same fine and not displaying rego details or plates.

Point to Point. Um... how many points do you think they will setup?

because although the logic works for highways it dose not work for traffic light situations unless there is one at every traffic light.

at the moment, you can still evade the cameras all together. speed cameras work of lines on the road. as your front tyre hits the first line it then calculates the time for it to strike the second and third line. it inst radar as some people think. well in NSW that is. but.... there is gap in between the two lanes. about 20-30 cms. just ride through there and it wont even detect you went past.

and this is from a friend at the RTA, and my dad was highway patrol.

But enough about evasion.

your pretty stupid to be speeding anyway, they put the cameras in those spots for a reason. you can still have a great ride at the speed limit. leave the high speeds and racing too the track. because when you get clocked there.. you dont get a  ticket.

In Brisbane, just before the Storey Bridge, they have the lines on the road. And it's ridiculous... everyone is sitting on 70, they slow down to 55 to drive past the speed camera, then IMMEDIATELY hit the gas and get back up to 70 again. Only catching the people not paying attention.

Same goes for the well-known speed camera set ups on the highway to the Gold Coast. Only catching the unaware or the person who never travels those routes.

you can still have a great ride at the speed limit.

:icon_eek:

Actually, you CAN still have a great, fun, enjoyable ride at the speedlimit - depending - on the time of day and the road.

For instance, A ride I did on the weekend was all speedlimit stuff - there and back, some solo video footage to come - and it was enjoyable as. Rural roads. Nothing in sight. BUT, on my morning commute, early in the morning everyone is a crazy speed racer and doing 90kph in an 80 zone will see you overtaken by Everyone. But same road an hour later and you're lucky if you can go as fast as the limit due to the thick traffic. Middle of the day on the same road, speedlimit sees you catch not many, nor get too overtaken on the same road, so sit in the slow lane and enjoy the ride with plenty of space in front and behind  :icon_lol:

Then again, I am a disgraceful geezer whose Need For Speed has since departed - going fast does not mean you can drive/ride, it means you can go fast. When other bikes sit next to me a traffic lights, I accelerate away normal (faster than the cars but normal for the bike). Eventually they cannot help themselves and Zoom Zoom off the line like it's a race - showing off.

Gotta agree with you.  The GS is just about perfect for staying in the speed limit o regular highways/back roads - not to mention commuting in city.  Of course that might be because it can't break the speed limit but  :dunno_white:  :icon_twisted:.

George Orwell was right.  Big Brother is here and he has an insatiable appetite for money and control.

Let's not put pressure on our elected representatives to preserve our liberty.  That's too much work.  Let's just surf the internet and watch T.V. while we all sink into serfdom.

Riding the streets at the speed limit with a group of riders is fast becoming a sport and is called "Pace Riding or just simply Pace"  think there is a mention on the forum about it.  Riding the streets at "Pace" and within the speed limit is FAR more challenging than high speed riding.  Teaches a great deal about you and your bike and most important HOW TO RIDE.

Pace sounds very similar to what I call commuting to school.
