I'm fairly confident as to my skill.  And, with any new bike, it's a matter of respecting the throttle.  If/when I get it, I'll post pics.  :icon_mrgreen:

It's a hell of a lot more than "respecting the throttle." If that were true, then any new rider could start safely on a big bore bike. In fact, the "respecting the throttle" argument has been repeated so many times over by people who are on bikes that are way too big for them. New rider starting on a 600? It's fine, he "respects the throttle".

Not saying you couldn't handle it, just pointing out that the FZ1 is a hell of a lot of bike, and will have no problems throwing you. I've seen it done with my own eyes. The engine is very powerful, very torquey, and fast as hell.

I understand your concern, but, being that this'll be my fourth bike, and I've got a few years of riding under my belt, I'll be happy for more torque again.  My previous 850 was buckets of fun, and the GS is great in the twisties, but I'm really looking forward to a combination of the two.
