First crash. Thank God

I had my first crash today, and I have learned alot.
Coming back from a quick ride with my cousin (wanted a ride) on Thanksgiving, about 100 meters from my house...
I was following a honda civic , and was staying way back and matching their speed, which was most likely over the speed limit, but I never checked to be sure.
Kept following, they disappeared around a turn, and I came around looking at glowing red brake lights and no blinker, with a left hand turn right beside the car and a driveway to the right.
I had no time to stop, hammered both brakes, and the back wheel (with the weight of my cousin) locked up and started skidding towards the car. I tried maneuviring the bike past the right of the car because I thought they would be turning left without a  signal.
Suddenly the driver turned into the left lane and then crossed paths with my bike on his way to the driveway.
Crash.
Lesson learned, no one hurt.
Thank the Lord.

Ouch man, I'm glad you both are alright. That is a big fear of mine, laying the bike down with another person riding, which is why I don't like giving people rides.

I also had my first crash today. Not hurt, thankfully. Layed the bike down going about 15mph because the back brake locked up (was going abit too fast to a stop). I was flung off the bike as it fell, and did a roll on my elbows to my feet.

Don't use both feet to test the depth of a river.

Wow! Glad to hear you're ok.  How much damage to the bike?  BTW, Happy Thanksgiving.

Try dropping down to 4 Oreos and set your pilot screw 3 turns out.

Geez, 'hope that you are all ok.  Glad that you didn't get hurt.  Nobody wants to crash on a motorcycle.  'Hope that your GS isn't too damaged.

Well, I wacked it at around 15-25km/hr,
So the front forks are completely bent , about 3 inches back. ($330 for ONE inner tube)
The handlebars are also bent, the whole upper fairing and lowering fairing are cracked and disconnected from the other side of the farings.
The tank, right in front of the seat, has a PERFECTLY symmetrical, huge dent in it, probably from my belt, or massive *whitsle*.  :thumb:
The headlights are smashed up good, but the front tire is still aligned.
Sucks.
I would like to mount a headlight on the forks, and convert the bike to a GS500E, add the case guards and sliders.
Is there any way to incorporate the EXISTING gs500f blinkers onto the forks or headlight?
Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated!
